Maybe there's a pressure wave from the chute that goes past you when the chute is deployed. That would explain the ear pop at that moment. It's funny how skydivers get used to these things. Much the same as barefooting sometimes being uncomfortable when starting out and then becoming very enjoyable.
Right.. You know what I hate about barefooting at fests? People spit...and piss and do whatever they want in the grass..it pisses me off hardcore...at the last show i went to .. i walked up to everyone i saw spitting..and said.. "Excuse me...could u think about it next time you spit...there are people walking around barefoot.." (including them most of the time!) I dunno..it just bothers me when people don't have common courtesy.. and yes..to ur response shag...another thing..i know on the vidoes it looks like it jerks you when the shoot opens...but really it was soo smooth .. i was impressed...like i went from on my stomach to like a sitting position...gracefully.... it was AWESOME! Ruthy
Yeah, most people avoid jumping with head congestion. In general, it's not a big bother. I do occasionally feel a little stuffed-ear sensation, but nothing too severe. It is quite a nice feeling to do it barefoot. I don't want to overstate how much I feel it in my feet, because my concentration during a jump is not really on them. But when I transition to a sit-fly from a belly-fly, I do feel the wind scooting around my soles. It's like a high-powered blow-dryer on cool setting. Your observation is correct: once you reach terminal velocity, you fall at a constant speed -- changing body position affects this because you present different surface area and drag to the relative wind, which comes from below you. So if you're on your belly, you'll do around 120mph; in a sit or a stand or a head-down, you'll reach more like 170 or 180mph. I read recently of a guy at an event hit THREE HUNDRED THREE miles per hour. His name is Jason Jerusalem. I think that a big misconception about skydiving that most people have is that you feel like you're falling. The truth is, you don't. When you first start, yes, you feel a falling sensation as you leave the plane. This is called being "on the hill" (the hill being the part where you accelerate). Even first timers feel that quickly stop once they hit terminal, though, and after that it's like being on an air mattress, kinda. But it doesn't take long before you really don't even notice the ride down the hill! (This surprised me; I realized one day that I was no longer really feeling the acceleration on the hill.) It's something ya just gotta try. And if you can, try it at least a few times. I'm sure RAR will tell you it's hard to remember it all once you're on the ground. Blue skies, -Jeffrey
I dunno...I remember alot...i remember that falling sensation when we first exited...and then i remember it stopping almost immediately...and then i didn't feel like i was falling at all..i just felt like i was suspended and it was windy...I also remember the feeling i had when iwe landed...i was soo high...it was such a good feeling..i was bouncin around....sayin. I WANNA DO IT AGAIN...that was all i wanted was to do it again, and again, and again..and even though it's been a few months..i still feel that way..it something i want to do for the rest of my life...it changed me i swear...gosh..i wanna jump soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooobadly....i cannot...i must wait until after vacation and i save some money..
hehe..right that was funny...lol... hey, anyone wanna go base jumping ? ? hehehe j/k i would never....
How about this one: skydiving from 100,000 feet http://www.fabulousrocketeers.com/Photo_Kittenger.htm
Heh, it was a deliberate joke -- I was including the two feet in the count total of three! You caught it! No one else seemed to, or at least they didn't mention it. Yeah, I like feet, I think they're cool and sexy and they are capable of receiving soooo much pleasure as an erogenous zone. It's great to surprise someone who didn't know that! You get the honor of opening them up to a new realization and a new source of fun and pleasure! I love the fact that I love feet. I love all the normal stuff and normal parts, PLUS feet. I'm like a lover with a bonus affinity, and my partners and I surely benefit from that versatility! What did you mean that my feet look like your mama's and your sister's? I didn't post a picture of my feet, did I? At least, I don't remember doing so... Maybe you're thinking of RAR's feet (cute ones, they are) 'cause she posted them at the beginning of the thread, but it seemed like you were saying that in reply to me... Blue skies, -Jeffrey
