my mastercard and visa are both no annual fee plus the mastercard actually gives a good amount back in canadian tire cash
i used to get lots of offers in the mail. i still get them, but a lot less since the economy went to shit. i have a pretty good credit score. i got a lot of offers when i was in college like everyone does. i bet you could apply for one at v1sa or masterkard dot com the credit card i use earns 1 "mile" per dollar spent sometimes double miles i saved up enough to get $400 credit toward airline tickets (took a couple years) i've also gotten $50 gift cards to target or something and got a videogame one bank that i don't particularly care for offered me a credit card that gave you $300 after your first purchase. so i bought a $30 thing with it (paid the bill), got my $300 check, and never used the card again. dunno what that does to my credit, but i figure it has to fuck over the bank at least a tiny fraction of a bit. i've never paid 1 cent of interest or fees on any credit card.
Ironic, that those with a great credit score make the creditor no money.... Dayum pork, I dunno where you're finding THOSE..... I know I'd get them with those fake cards in the envelope when I was a little kid, but have not in many years..... maybe that's because I intentionally dropped my address off the face of the earth exactly to avoid that kind of crap, but now a mile a dollar spent sounds pretty sweet, could use that for grocery shopping and thousands of miles of air travel a year. I wonder if there's a similar deal for an amtrak card? I don't like taking my shoes off and coughing for power tripping high school kids....
First thing I thought was just get a regular card but he dosnt have the money for the tires so everything after the first payment he will be charged interest. Unless you can find one with a 0% intro offer. I have gotten them a few times before.
I am never getting a credit card again. And probably wouldn't be allowed another one even if I did want it.
my visa gives me a 1% rebate at the end of the year. my mastercard gives me one airmile per $30 or $40 or something, but i never use it.
When I first got my Visa card I had a $5000.00 dollar credit line and after five years it grew to $24,000 and then cut three years ago to $21,500 when credit card companies were arbitrarily reducing lines of credit even though I paid my bills regularly I still like the power of having $20,000 dollars in my pocket even though I won’t use my card for anything other than small purchases :2thumbsup: Hotwater
i should point out that one "mile" does not equal a mile of air travel. i need 10,000 miles to save $100 on a traveling expense. it could be hotel stay, plane tickets, etc. or i could get $75 worth of gift cards to various places, or $50 cash. but i really don't think i spent $40 grand on the fucking card. or even $20 grand (double miles?)
I'll throw this out there to anyone who wants a credit card... Try and get a Discover card. The 5% back on things is amazing. I've already earned like $50 in cash back because I only use it for the things they offer the 5% back on...like for the next few months, its on gas, so I'm only using that to gas my bitch up every time. Last few months it was for food/groceries...so I only used it for groceries. And I have no interest for 15 months and after that it will be lower than 15%
I was DENIED for this credit card anyway.. I'm going to a credit union. In the meantime thank god for the bank of MOM. BBAD - My wife has a couple credit cards, so she can piss off asking me for mine. I ended up getting Fuzion UHP 98w tires. I got 225/50/17's in place of the 235/55/17's that were on there.. It's amazing what a little bit of tread will do to the ride! I paid $523 for the tires and $52 road hazard warranty. The tech at the shop recommended these tires because I told him that I have on the stock 15's a set of really nice snow tires, so these would suit my needs just fine. I've never heard of Fuzion tires, and it makes me nervous of companies who misspell words on purpose, usually with a z or an x as to look edgy and cool. also the logo looks like the logo from an energy drink. Again, trying to look edgy and cool. http://www.thefuzionzone.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?Product_Name=Fuzion UHP
Amen, on the bank of mom. Makes me think of 3DFuzion. (A brand owned by BFGtech(A now defunct high-end gaing graphics card company, using nVidia chips), they used it as coors uses keystone light for coors light that fails the test.... cheap and PROBABLY good cards, without the lifetime warrenty. So okay, not quite like keystone. I had a BFG, but it died, after the company died, so the legendary lifetime warranty meant all of jack shit. I was pissed.) Anyway, I'd get toyo or some shit. I don't know a fuckin' thing about them, but they sound leet, and I get the feeling the cool kids drive them :2thumbsup:
26 here and just applied for my first credit card. I just needed something to hold me over as I transition jobs and pay periods. I got it through my credit union and it has a low limit on it. I plan on paying off whatever I buy within three months.
I don't know if it still apples but it used to be that the easiest way to get started was to get a Sears credit card (or other store credit card) and make a small purchase, pay it off on time and then just about any bank will get you into a Visa/Mastercard and/or Discover will get you a card. I started with a Montgomery Ward Store card (now defunct).... I think I bought a sewing machine and a vacuum cleaner. After paying those down everybody was sending me applications in the mail and I got to pick and chose whatever I wanted... Watch out for the credit trap though... I got bit real hard when I couldn't make any more payments on 4 or 5 nearly maxed out cards... Sucks. .
That's why i mostly pay in cash but I still like the security of having the purchasing power but without falling into the trap :2thumbsup: Hotwater
