I admit I have a bias against the Republican Party. I believe they have embraced a political philosophy that is destroying America. Additionally, I have seen those who unquestionable embrace their leadership defend their positions with far too many blatant, if unintentional (to be charitable) violations of intellectual honesty.

We cannot expect our civilization to last if the guiding principles continue to be "Every man for himself" and "Any problem that cannot be solved through someone else's suffering, or through violence, isn't worth solving."

But I am not voting for, or against, any party.

If the Republican Party were to embrace a more humanistic set of principles, if they were to realize America IS our people, not our military might or our resources, if they were to realize humanity's best hope lies in the bonds of community, not in the destruction of those who live on either side of those broken bonds, then I would certainly vote for whatever candidate they put up who could best fulfill these principles. I wish I didn't have to worry that this might not ever happen.

I am voting for Obama not because he is a Democrat, but because I recognize great wisdom in what he says. I don't know if he can accomplish all of the things he proposes, but if the quality of his words truly express the quality of his thought, his intentions and his consciousness, then America desperately needs to follow the path he is suggesting.

I am passionately convinced we cannot survive the path we are on. I almost never quote Confederate Generals, but in this case, Stonewall Jackson said it best -- "War is the sum of all evil." The Bush administration started a war. To be charitable, it may be argued that they merely escalated a conflict to a war. If John McCain, Sarah Palin the Republican Party and their loyal supporters cannot even try to understand why this is as immoral an act as is humanly possible, then they have no moral authority. If they continue to wield power over our country then we are doomed.

    Peace and Love

The Republican Party is the opposite of what it used to be..... I can understand being at odds with the GOP at this time in America. We'll just have to wait and see if Obama is any better.

I typed a much more extensive post on Obama and the War in the thread "Wolf Girl and McSame"

Take it or leave it, I think it is the truth.

All I know is that I am voting for OBAMA. We can't have a goddamn psychopath in the White House ... again.

He does appear to be the most thoughtful and statesman like of the two candidates. Now if he can just get through the rest of the election without sinking to the same level as the republicans when they sling their dirt.
