Use of wood products isn't bad, it's the wastefulness. Do you have books? Wooden furniture? A house (most likely framed with wood)? Write? Get mail?

You just need to be concientious of what you use, how much you use, and how much you WASTE.

I'm in school. I cannot avoid using tons of paper. I hate it. Unfortunately, my professors STILL want us to turn in paper copies of essays, homework, etc. When I can just as easily email. Unfortunately, I have to buy $600+ worth of books every semester. It is unavoidable. But, just try to use wisely.

yeah but I know there's gotta be a way to just stop using it and still be able to live. I'm not talking about all tree products, just most big company-manufactured ones.

Books aren't a waste. And if you use both sides of a paper that isn't a waste either.

    Just recylce the paper...

Of course we should go natural. Yeah, thinning out is alright, but then, removing dead trees removes good nest sites. And not allowing natural fires also allows burnable material to build up until the whole forest becomes a tinder box just waiting to explode. Thats when the really bad fires happen.

How nice for you to be able to make that choice. I spent the last year of my life trying to educate people to the evils of Wal-mart and other multinationals and encouraging people support small businesses but I still find myself occasionally having to shop there because I am poor. I shop locally when I can, and as an activist that's all we can ask of anyone; do what you can, and don't judge others who can't.

We don't use paper napkins, we use cloth. As far as paper towels go, we do have some, but I usually use the dish towels instead. Yes, I have to do more laundry, but to me, it's worth it.

It's a disposable society. Just look at all the ads running and the increase in disposable cleaning products. Disposable mop swifty things, disposable toilet brushes, etc.. Paper towels are just one of them. I think in a conscientious society they wouldn't manufacture that crap because nobody would buy it. ... but they're selling them by the truckloads.
