For the life of me, I couldn't remember where I had read about Narcotics Checkpoints before. For some reason I think it has something to do with you

Since the truck didn't belong to me, I let my friend decide what to do. I was leaning towards making the same choice also. If I was wrong about narcotics checkpoints being unconstitutional then we would have been screwed. At least the police had to profile me in order to pull me over when I got off at that exit.

If I wasn't so lazy, I'd post a bunch of links about this Supreme Court case. When I did some reading on all of it, I was shocked to find out that "safety checkpoints" are legal.

LOL, well it was not me. I could see that maybe this was their way of getting around the law by putting that sign up, which is not illegal but would cause people who were rolling dirty to get off at that exit. So, that was his thought. It's a great example and a good story. I agree I hope others read and learn.

my cops arnt lenient, theyr jus straight up assholes in my honest opinion.
theres a good cop sprinkled inbetween the assholes that pinch your stash n give it back, the ones that "confinscate it" and the ones who turn theyr damn sirens and lights on just to cross a red light. then turning them off right after the light. its stuff like that that irritates me cuz these assholes actually pulled me over once for "driving too close to the shoulder".

Honestly, that's a cool ass cop, sounds like he did that cause you cooperated.... but you've gotta hate just trusting cops like that... it's what they want though, they wanna make you shit brix and then let you off for being respectful, no paperwork, no mess, no charges, but they scare some pot smoker into respecting the law for ten minutes. win win.

But chances are, they DID have a checkpoint, it's a common tactic to put a checkpoint warning sign right before an exit or rest stop, with a cop or two to profile people there, and the checkpoint before any actual escape route, in case you try the brave smooth talking way.

Respectfully disagree. The vast majority of times I have seen the sign there has been no check point. Most of these times were in the central and upper midwest corridor. Last time my boy was rolling up i-55, saw the sign wasn't thinking, was riding clean, had to piss and exited at the rest stop. Whirly birded but it all worked out. Cop said no check point.

Typically on major thoroughfares its going to be scare.

You're one of the few people left in the SL that makes sense in every post.

Thanks for keeping this bumped, as it likely happened to Twang too. Remember kids, the list of "Immigration Checkpoints" near the border are all on Wiki. Also there is a list somewhere of all the known drug checkpoint signs.

Well I can see that, they couldn't block a huge highway or something for it. I wasen't saying always, I'm sure it also depends on the area.

Around here, right next to the border, they have a number of perminant checkpoints where they question pretty much anyone who looks like me, and if you look like me and pull off at the rest stop that's convienantly located several hundred yards past the sigh, I'm rather certain they'll roll up on you very fast.

*edit* in looking for a map of all known us checkpoints operated on a semi-perminant basis, I found checkpointusa.org, which may interest some of you.

what really sucks is how those fucking dumb hick cops think they're so god damn smart fooling us like that. like...son of a bitch.
cop found the DMT he's like "what's this?"
The amber vial fucking says "N,N DMT"
had no idea what it was. I told him it was a hallucinogen that only lasts a few minutes. he goes "oh so it just makes everything look trippy or somethin?"
    I was like "uhh..basically"
ha...most powerful psychedelic he's holding and doesnt even know it :p

If i ever see one of these signs and don't have anything on me, I'm gonna pull off. And if I get pulled over, I'm just gonna be a total dick to the cop. (assuming I didn't actuly do anything that would get me a ticket) and just waste his time.

If you didn't do anything to actually get a ticket, he'll still find a reason to give you a ticket. It's just how most cops are.

Yeah, or he'll find that 10,000 pounds of heroin that you had. But they might forget to mention that until you're already in court ;)

after reading that the officer had a dip in, i had to wonder if you were twang's buddy. it's a shame that twang couldn't have seen this in time...just one more woulda coulda...

i liked lostthoughts' idea. i wouldn't personally try it though, as i'm sure my car has some pot dust on the carpet at the very least

i got caught with salvia by the police once, when i was like 16. it wasn't labelled, and we thought it was called saliva. cop said it smelled like weed, my buddy said "we're smokin saliva, it's 100% legal"...step outta the car boys.
we also had weed. got arrested.
oh yea, anyways. he later referred to it as spit juice and said it smelled like wart remover
