It's odd to me coz I'm usually pragmatic and resourceful. Typically I'd think "I want nice long dreads now. There is a way to have nice long dreads now. I will therefore do it" but for some reason it feels all wrong! *spazgirl*
I was seriously considering extensions 'til I saw that vid and pic. They look VILE!!!! I have a shit load of puppy hair from my dog. I think it'd be so sweet to make it into a dreadlock and sew it in to one of my own but I don't wanna lose it either. Maybe i'll just keep it in a box instead.
If i had a dog I certainly would, but I got shit in another thread for saying I thought it was a good idea when someone mentioned it. We might get a retired military working dog soon though. I dont like the military, but I like dogs and I'm they train them crazy well. Maybe I could use him to track down pot....
Oh those are the best dogs. We were considering a retired police dog but they are like £800-£1000 here so we thought we'd be better off with a pup. I would like to use his hair from 8-14 weeks old to make a dreadlock, it's so soft! but like you say, I'd get shit off people, namely my husband. I'm still gonna secretly stash his hair though just incase I decide to make one. I have a intense attachment with him and just thought it'd be a fitting tribute, even though he's not dead and is only 7 months old.
True. But if you give him a bath, the hair will be just as clean as human hair and is easier to collect.
You must have been around some pretty nasty smelling dogs. The only time I've noticed dog hair stink is when it's wet. All depends on how much the owner can be arsed to groom it.
The smell comes from the dog and the skin. If you remove the hair from the dog and wash it, it smells fine. I used to work at a dog grooming salon washing dogs. The hair never smelled(after washed), it was always just the dog.
Dogs and humans are 2 different species. I don't think their hair and ours is intended to be mended together.
