Tough situation. How far do you have to go to see your dad? I think there is a deal with the airlines that if you have a very sick relative, they won't charge you full price for the ticket. Not sure about this though. Even without discount, you might be able to find a cheap roundtrip ticket so that you could do the roundtrip in a single day. If your new job won't delay the start of your job even a single day, then they're total nazis. Probably better off without them.
Well my job was really cool about it So I'm driving all night to ny by myself Cuz my bf is an ass. No idea how I'm gonna get back, but atleast ill see my dad.
I actually had a boss say to me when my grandma was dieng "it's an important week your not going to take off just to see her die are you?" And she claimed to be a good caring Christian That's been the mentality of a lot of places I worked here
hope the trip goes well. You may want to try posting on the craigslist ride share board for the return trip. That way you could get both some gas money and some help with the driving. http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites
I am sending positive vibes your way .I am sorry to hear about your dad .I hope he gets better real soon . Hugs Melissa
I am sorry I did not read your entire post before replying .I am really sorry that your dad is so bad off .You are doing the right thing by going there to be with him .If you have a bad feeling you are probably right .I did the same thing with my mom .I knew 3 weeks before that she would not be with us long .I got all her brothers and sisters to visit and my sister and I spent every moment we could with her .That time is priceless to me now .We got to say everything there was to say and she went peaceful .If that is what happens you will be so glad you were there with him .I wish you the best and your dad too . Hugs Melissa
I'm coming real late to the party, but I'm piling all my best wishes and condolences for you and your family. Stay strong
Thanks everyone Yea he looks horrible, and eveything he says is very final. Ya know hes talking to me about money, things that need to be done at the house etc. Like he is getting ready not to be here. He asked for a pad and pen and my mom was getting it ready for him and she started crying, saying that is exactly what my grandma did before she passed. Im really glad I came here, no matter whats comes of it. I was thinking about posting on the ridesare for the way home. Just worried about going with a total stranger, Im a little 100lb girl.
Yeah, that sounds very tough PonyGrl My dad died at 61, and the end was very tough. Still sending positive vibes.
I hope you and your family get through this ok, again very sorry to hear abou your dad. Very difficult to lose a parent. Be careful going home, take a bus if you can.
So just to make sure I've got it straight, you drove up from SC by yourself, but ideally you would have someone along with you to share in the driving and the gas costs on the return trip. If you want to do the ride share board but are worried, one thing to do is to only take female passengers. Not a guarantee that they'll be good passengers, but generally chicks are less of a physical threat.
I am sorry that your Dad is not doing well but I think it is a really good thing for you to have gone and have this time with him. Hard as that is, time together is important. As far as the shared ride, the best you can do is to probably try to find a female and really chat first. I hope that works out for you.
I am so sorry Ponygirl . Try to be strong to get through this . I am so glad you are there with him . Please be careful on your ride home .The world is a dangerous place nowadays .I agree with everyone on choosing a girl to ride with you .Not a guarantee but I would think much safer .I will keep you and your family in my prayers .Please keep posting and let us know how you are doing .I will be sending positive vibes your way . Hugs Melissa
