If I was born into slavery I would do everything in my power to lead and organize an uprising and if there was collateral damage along the way – then so be it hotwater
Nobodies perfect. I remember something about him being in Australia and snubbing the aboriginals. I wish I could remember the whole story. But he did a lot of good for his people.
If I had been living Mandela's life in the early sixties, I might have wanted to kill some white people too. His people had it rough.
We killed Brits for our freedom. And the reasons for that little episode paled in comparison to what the victims of apartheid suffered. He lived a complete life comprised of death, destruction, incarceration, redemption, and enlightenment. He engaged in and saw it all. The bottom line is that the abomination and ending of apartheid was accomplished with his later vision of cooperation, equality, and love. There are many world leaders that could take an example or two from his life. Are we then to believe that non-cooperation with the state of our government--- that passive millions and millions demonstrating for a more sane way of apportioning the necessities of life would not change anything? We may find out.
Including bombing shopping malls and railway stations targeting innocents? Would you kill other black people for not agreeing with you? Coming from you it would be no suprise.
Did we torture and kill innocent British civilians? I've never heard of that, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. Do you have a source?
It's easy to have such morals when you have privilege...which comparatively, is everyone posting on this forum. I may not agree with terrorism from my comfy chair but I can empathize with it when I put myself in terrorist shoes. When a belief or an idea is so strong that you feel there is no other way to invoke change except violence. With the exception Islamists, I think the decision to do something that will have collateral damage isn't taken lightly by the people who make the call. We just aren't privy to their nightmares to find out.
