Asmodean, Do you honestly believe that this makes sense: "So if we go talk about a problem about pressed rat for 2 pages long it is because of yourself."? You're typing too fast.
Wrong. We are now making this about Pressed rat because of you only. Posting a critical opinion about what pr thinks is not turning the thread into that. By dragging it out like this though... Well done, you are criticizing someone of what you are doing edit: You got the point. So no need to hide behind me typing a little too fast. Shall we go on about this nonissue a little longer?
Happily, I think you're being quite self-centered if you believe that I'm following you around the forums. Show me how "anytime" you state your opinion, I come running to poke at it. Really, show me.
Sidebar: I have better things to do than go dig up quotes from you. You've been made aware of my opinion. Now you can take it or leave it. Whether you want to be perceived this way will be determined by the way you treat me going forward. In conclusion, if you want to have it out with me - do it in a more appropriate place like PM or chat room so we avoid derailing this discussion any further.
Happily, What you really mean is that you have better things to do than to be seen failing to produce what I asked of you because it doesn't exist.
Asmodean, You said this before I came into the thread: "You are always so eager to judge the people that piss you off, Rat... It could be that at least half of that people that got angry about it since he died might simply be pissed because you choose the wrong moment to confront them with it. I can imagine it could also be the attitude with how you bring it sometimes... But no it unquestionably has to be their critical thinking skills." Still want to hang on to your claim that "We are now making this about Pressed rat because of you only." Typing too fast without recalling what you've already posted? So, who really derailed this thread?
To be honest, I can't really be bothered about getting to the truth of it all. All I know is that we had some pretty crappy people giving him praise on the TV. Prince Bigeared Prick, our crappy excuse of an England football manager, Phoney Tony Blair - who also was at pains to claim how much Mandela liked Margaret Thatcher and our so called "Queen"... So by that we can assume that its wrong to discriminate on skin colour, but absolutely fine to discriminate on social birth class... (rather fucked up!). Ofcourse the orginal Europeans in S Africa were invaders. But I'm not sure how much the indigeneous Africans actually built S Africa. Then there is the question about how much people should be forced to live together or otherwise. I mean it hasn't gone well in Zimbabwe. And the ANC and Zulus positively despise each other. Much like the tribes in Rwanda, Congo etc. Finally, should "majority rule " in California, decide whether that state should return to Mexican ownership at some point? Should "majority rule" by Asian immigrants decide that parts of Britain become Islamic states in 40 years time? A big question is whether Mandela WAS a terrorist or not. If he was, I don't see how someone could be forgiven for that and THEN become portrayed as some sort of saint. So to me, its a question of the facts. I'm also cynical about the way the Media like to build people up/break them down to meet certain agendas...
The British Army was quite well behaved, by modern standards. It was a very traditional war, army against army. The Boston Massacre was a much smaller incident than its name implies, probably triggered by one inexperienced soldier who panicked because his group was badly outnumbered. Hard to do, when a group is fighting for their independence. The status quo government is definitely going to be in favor of peace, because they want everything to stay exactly as it is. Usually, when a substantial group takes up arms against the government, they have some substantial reasons for doing so.
Yes but if we were empathetic in the first place, there would be no reason to fight. When you share the feelings of another, you begin to care for them and meet their needs. Unrelated to the above post. Criminalizing Mendela now is not going to help matters on either side. These issues will continue to exist until people want to treat each other lovingly and with compassion like brothers. Love conquers all.
You are. I simply posted a reaction to something the topic starter said. Not entirely off topic at all.
"He (Mandella) immediately made a big announcement to everyone: `You know who is this person? This person was my warden, this person was my friend.'" Brand said he felt very humble and proud at that moment. After that when the parliamentarians went out for a group photo, Mandela insisted that Brand be in the photo. "He said `No, no. You must stand next to me, we belong together.'" http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/A/AF_MANDELA_JAILER?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT
It's not necessary for the attitude to be common. It takes just 1 to start a revolution. Nelson Mandela being a poignant example of this. So hold steadfast to your beliefs and spread the love baby!
Please explain the "NOT ruthless" part of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jallianwala_Bagh_massacre where an estimated 1,000 non-violent protesters and pilgrims were slaughtered, O learned one. O nuanced one, O she who does her research before opening her mouth (unlike some people).
