Yes, I'm sure we can all rattle off a lot of problems that we perceive as needing fixing. Dormouse says corporate greed. Indy says combine religion, art, and science. (I personally feel that there is much that religion and science share, but they refuse to recognize each other. Pity.) How about Wars? We should stop all the killing and fighting. How about Famine? We should make sure everyone gets fed. How about diseases? We should make sure everyone stays healthy. How about politics? We should make sure that our politicians are honest and forthright. There are a lot of opportunities to say, "We should..." What we need is a plan on *how* to do them. Simply enumerating all the problems is tantamount to shouting, "FIX IT", without offering a plan to fix it. So, Indy, how do you propose we get the world to recognize that religion, art, and science are actually the same thing? The ones who are causing the problems are the ones who are most steadfast in their beliefs.
The only way to bring a realization such as this to people is by living it. We cannot teach by word of mouth man, only by action. Intermingle these things in your own life, and eventually others will do it as well. Granted it is a slow process but anything worth having is worth taking the time to get man
i would want to join and help in a movement if it happened. all i really want to do is be at peace and help others do the same and meditate and free my mind of all the bad things that have been stuffed into it over the years. to have a bunch of people doing that together would be amazing.
Sounds like great idea in theory. But I have doubts that our current society is ready for that kind of maturity.
well, maybe a miraculous something wonderful will happen in 2012, like the instantaneous raising of the entire human collective consciousness. i know. i know. silly me with the over active imagination. a gazillion to 1 chance of such an event happening but it does no harm to dream ... just for a moment. right?
it so confusing to me. i mean.. we're being fed bullshit, being lied to, in corrupt wars and corrupt systems.. racism is still alive and active, just not so brutal as it once was (or not so public at least) and yet, everyone my age only cares about how good they look and competing with each other.. or how much cash they spent on their shoes.. why is this generation so dumb? i think it's amazing to just think about how so many young people become aware and for a moment in time came together to really live life as it should be.. how did that happen? how did so many of you back then wake up and why is this younger generation today playing the game of ignorance? AH! has the man got them that good?!
To borrow a page from Shale's book, there were a LOT of kids back then. It was the "coming of age" of the baby boom and the young outnumbered the old, probably for the first time since things like that were counted. For every hippie that walked the earth in the '60s, there were probably twenty straight kids back home who were just carbon copies of their parents. We only looked like a whole lot of people when you saw us all together, somewhere. Today, there aren't nearly the numbers that there were back then; although, I'd be tempted to guess that the ratio is about the same. A lot of those straight kids grew up to be the ones who are feeding us BS, lying to us, and starting the wars, today. We may have been a lot of kids with a great set of ideals, back in the day, but we were far from the majority. And, as we all know, the winners get to write the history books and plan the future.
This might interest you Gio: http://www.psychedelic.gr/ You're not far from Boom fest or the Love Parade. Keep looking - where you're at now (mind and knowledge) isn't where you'll be next week/month/year - look and learn. In the 60s and 70s there was more happening and more happening openly. But I think that's the only time in the history of the world that it's been that way. Hip may have gone back a little underground. Or at least it's different now. What to do? Same as anytime, get some money together and head for someplace hip, like Berlin or Prague or Goa or Portugal or come on over here, to Boston or SF or Santa Cruz, etc. Off your ass on on your feet!
I would love to see the hippie movement come back! More than anything. People my age are starting to dig it over here.
sorry, i was so consumed by my selfish rant that i forget to mention the most important part.. and that is, that i do acknowledge that there are some beautiful onboard people in this generation out there too thanks for being here!
I would definately give up my tv and computer. I would just lovee to live in the woods in a tent. I also think that technology especially computers cause lots of stress. Having another hippie movement would be cool. Especially since I never lived the first one as I am only 14... Woo..
no thank you! but i also acknowledge that there are way too many people my age that dont get it at all . you know the ones that only care about the latest and greatest trends...... im glad im not like that!! your beautiful man. ;} haha turtle smiley
