I like this guy because he's modern and the style of music appeals to me on a contemporary level; not some convoluted nostalgia that exists alongside some neurotic disorder lurking in my psyche. He's brilliant. Not only do I value The Weeknd's vocal range and accuracy, but I think likely his influences (the foundation of his inspiration) is probably integral to the future direction of other artists in the same genre and sphere of influence. Justin TImberlake and The Black Eyed Peas come to mind as well, though I think Fergie (of the Black Eyed Peas) is solo or retired now.
