No Attack but I'm kinda wondering about the Hippie being outdated. I must ask you, when is Peace, Love and Brotherhood outdated, when did civil rights become laughable in the past tence.

We Originals that partisapated in The Waking Up Of America in the 60s to how we live now takes a bit of notice when we are ridiculed and labled as outdated. Who do you think started the recycling and being less materialistic and getting to know your neighbor. Standing up for what is Right not what is comfortable or fashionable.

We are not out dated and I for 1 am proud to be a Hippie. We did not sit on our asses and let someone else do the dirty work of actually speaking out and protesting in numbers, taking abuse and even imprisoned or murdered and are still doing so. You're Welcome.

We came on a beam of light to guide wayfarers along the path. We came in colors with flowers in our hair and love in our hearts. We came to change the darkness and fill it will Divine Love.

We learn the mysteries of the Universe as we Triped The Light Fantastic and grew in knowledge and became wise in the ways of man. We searched for our brethern and caught up with them in The Haight where the energy was at peak. We gathered and banded together and are still together in some parts of the nation. We are still together in Spirit no matter where we be. We are the messengers.

We passed it down to the next generation as we grew old. It was time for them to pick up the fire stick and contenue with sharing the love and good news of peace. That does not seem to be the case and tho we be old and weary of the fight we contenue to strive for justice and change for all ppl.

If any of that is outdated, then I am ready to leave and return from whince I came, bc it is a statement of our society's eveolution and progress as Human Beings. If we are going retrograde and re-doing the past, we should get with the program and do our part in making it a better socieity for all Human Beings.

It's who you are inside that counts, be what you feel inside, dress how it feels to you, if someone complains just smile, and overpower the negitivity with positive energy.

That all I wanted to say.

    sh

The shitty part of the SF bay area the holy mecca of hippiedom is that second hand shops are rediculosly trendy. They call them "Vintage Clothing" stores and for the prices they charge the shit should be fucking new. Isn't it weird when the alternative becomes mainstream and advanced capitalism enters the picture. It's no longer a "Second Hand Store" that is an antiquated term that the kids won't latch on to. But "Vintage Clothing," it's young, it's hip, the kids will flock to it. And thus far the Yuppie Larva are lapping it up.

If you do a search you will come up with some and the advantage is that you get what you would like and you support someones craft /art. :)

Hello, I live in the UK Brighton ...
We are really lucky to have alot of good charity shops, but wherever I have lived Ive always looked in other places to find clothes other than shops.

I very rarely buy from a mainstream shop but if I find something I like and have the funds I will buy it.
One day il look like a new age traveller the next day I could look like a posh hippie-it really is about finding stuff that is totally different and comfortable for you to be you in! After all we are not the clothing we wear, not like the fashion industry insists we are!

I'm not a hippie either. And furthermore, I know the difference between logic and misplaced ignorance. For instance, I know, as i'm not a hippie, I would not be able to answer this question objectively.

I understand your point, but let's let people just be people.

shameless_heifer I believe your post reinforces my point. In the time that "hippies" came to be they made a visual difference (thank you for your efforts). They were politically active, had a voice. Peace, love and brotherhood will never be outdated. But at least back then they had a face and it was hippies. What is the face of peace, love and brotherhood today? Justin Beiber maybe?

That's kinda what I was saying, Us Hippies did the doing yet we are scoffed at and made fun of. It would behove any person that adhere to the Hippie culture. There is nothing or no one out there today pushing the peace pipe, more like the crack pipe. It is up to each indivduel to pick up their own fire stick and get busy. I'll stand with ya but you will have to carry your own load.

There is something on the rise, it will be astounding and will draw many back to the ways of the Hippie. It's coming to your town, get ready.

    peace

    Hi Rev,
It was not always that way. It became so when we left or should I say Is why we left. To be what we are, we had to pay our dues. We manifested into our Hippie selves as our numbers grew and we became stronger.

It was what we all shared in our hearts and minds and even bodies.. We all played our part while perfecting ourselves as we grew in knowledge.

I was but a child of 16, in 66 when I arrived on Haight and Ashbury. It was Magic and most delightful with all the many ppl in all the colored costumes of the era. It was Magic as the patterns of phychidelic experience drifted in the air vertually penetrating your very Being.

It was the Love Consciousness of uniting for a mutual cause. Ppl of The Hippie Nation became One. We shared what we had and loved it, we smiled so hard for so long our faces now resemble road maps of places we have been and the things we went through to get there.

It never died, it just went underground and nobody cared enough to find out. So it lay sleeping, resting from the journey of life. The Sleeping Gaint is Awakened and rears it's Gallent Head to Rise again.

The task that was started will be fulfilled and blance will be restored on our Planet. The Love Light is still shining and growing brighter, shine with it or go in darkness.

    Blssings

    Captain Cannibis,
I am sorry that you are suffering, I hope you grow beyond your pain. I hope you find your happiness and learn to share it instead of you rage.

    Blessings on your journey

Come on guys, CC is just being adolescent... don't give him that peace and love crap :D Anyways, I think internet might be quite useful for searching for whatever kind of hippie clothes you want since anyone can put their self made stuff on it for sale right? So it isn't necessarilly giving in to capitalism at all.
