I do not actually enjoy battling hordes of leftists, so I only have a limited stamina or all of this. As a centrist I am often at 1v10 odds and I have to debate large hordes of dissidents. The bottom line is that leftists don't want mentally ill people to have the same rights as everyone else. Despite the fact that mentally ill are statistically more likely to be victims of crimes, they don't want mentally ill to have human rights or self-defense. What leftists want is mentally ill people to be chipped, tracked and forced to eat ineffective and often harmful pills. This is the narrative. There is also not that much evidence showing mentally ill are more likely to commit crimes. There are even some studies saying mentally ill persons are less likely to commit crimes. Half of these mass shootings were not done by anyone registered as having a mental illness. So leftists have to choose between banning guns of everyone, or creating a Minority Report Ai that magically predicts the future and arrests people in advance of future crimes. Both are dystopian solutions and I don't recommend either. Mentally ill is a vague umbrella term. Its a term used by the ruling establishment to label dissidents and deviants. I believe depressed people should own guns, I believe in the right to suicide. I also don't think masculinity should be illegal. If a strong and noble male gets into a rage and says something violent to someone, that's called being human. They shouldn't lose rights for that. First of all, females get away with saying all sorts of violent stuff casually, like saying they are gonna kill someone over something trivial. Second of all, I don't want to ban masculinity, I want some males to simply look more feminized overall. The guns should only be banned if they are making a serious threat, like saying in 24hrs the crap is gonna go down or something like that. People shouldn't get guns banned for simply getting into a verbal argument with someone and being angry. Nowadays mental illness is basically defined as anyone who has human emotions and says something angry. Like if a kid is bullied and they go home and rage and punch a wall, the kid is labelled as mentally ill or something.
People should be required to carry insurance for a firearm; like as in insurance to operate a motor vechile. Let the Cost / Risk equation be the limiting factor on firearms posession, not a Guvt. law.

Piney Well it is ‘government law’ that requires people to have motor vehicle insurance. And that is one of the suggestions that has been put forward here on these forums many times as have the other things associated with driving such as a mandatory licence and having to pass a test before being allowed to drive, been banned for driving in a reckless manner or for drunk driving etc.
i agree. main problem is some insurance companies seem to be kind of a like a racket where they scam and overcharge. In a perfect world with fair insurance rates i see nothing wrong with that. depressed people should have the power to live or to die. If they are a depressed person that isn't suicidal, they should have the right to self-defense and defense of property. If they are suicidal they should have the right to a painless suicide by shotgun, other forms of suicide cause more pain and thus denying them painless euthanasia is a human rights violation. Scenario example: Depressed non-suicidal person is struggling with poverty, but they just got a new job and their depression is starting to improve. Then someone robs their house and they couldn't shoot due to guns being banned. The robber also tied them up for 3 days as a hostage and by the time the police arrive, they lost their job because the employer didn't know they were a hostage. Now they are financially back in debt again and now they are back to being depressed.
Talking and debating with people is emotionally draining and I only have a limited threshold for that sort of thing. Its ingrained in the culture and kind of normalized with all the TV shows about reality TV and stuff like that. centrism=balance and moving forward. Left or right implies they decided to take a direction that isn't moving forward.
Same was said of Wright Brothers and all the other forward minded folks. If you want to pretend that humans will still be relevant in the future and that John Henry will succeed then you are naive. UBI is needed for the vast amount of humans that will lose their jobs to robots. Cyborgs are not just hypothetical, they are already here. Sure some backwards people, usually boomers, will still give people meme jobs like menial office work that can easily be replaced by machines. Freedom from the wage with UBI is a much better solution than that.

The solutions to the problems of the world are not in conservative politics. They (right-leaning politicians) are fascinated with tradition. They focus on religion. The main thing for them is that the ethos of what it is to be American stem from something ingrained from the past. Now, we can learn from the past and I'm not saying we can't. But back to the solution. You're never going to fix poverty by instilling within somebody good Christian faith, or a sense of more discipline, right? That's not going to work. Similar to overpopulation, you won't fix it by simply teaching everyone to abstain from sex until they want children. It's not going to work. My solution? Tax and social program. You won't find that in republican or libertarian or right-ish politics. They freak. They don't like taxes. But we need social welfare. What about equal maternity-paternity leave? Or subsidized housing?
