I'm on the way to the Arkansas to go back to the college, yep yep... ...decided to stop here to check out the scenery... truly not worth it.
Yeah... I just read another big article about New Orleans- basically said all the stuff you said.... plus it talked about how that city isn't even rebuilt to the point it was pre-Katrina.... it's rather sad because Katrina wasn't even the big storm they always feared- it was just a catagory three.....
I'm speaking at a conference in Houston next week ): I've been warned not to leave my hotel room...by people who work in the bad part of Atlanta. I really wish I didn't say I would go...blahhhhhh.
I think he was complaining abou tthe goverment's misuse of the funds allotted to help NO rather than ragging on the people living there. Regardless of your socio economic status and the previous stressers in your life peeing on the street and carrying around beer during the day in public is unacceptable. You ever wonder why poor areas stay poor? Because the majority of people living in them have no respect for their community. I lived in HUD housing when I was really young and my mom always had the most beautiful flowers on the patio and I was taught to always pick-up liter, even if it is not mine. I never understood people who couldn't do the same. Why would anyone choose to live in an unpleasant enviorment?
isn't new orleans in the south ??!!?!?!?! actually that was the one place that wasn't a beach that I had wanted to visit, guess I'll skip it
Yeah Gary, it's not worth it. CorpFreak... with New Orleans in its state today, it takes a drunk horny person to enjoy it... nothing beyond that. I was indeed complaining about how the government and the politicians obviously fucked up... but yes, the people of NO aren't doing anything to fix it either. On another note... I have never seen so many cops in one location (without anything bad happening) in my life... The French Quarter has one on like every street.
my friends band went down there the other month, said its extremely depressing there now sad, but i doubt its ever going to recover. The US really did lose a city that night I kind of want to go down there to see the creepy urban decay though. that stuff interests me especially down there
It's not going to recover. It was actually pretty fucked stupid to build a city in such a location. The US is not Holland, there's plenty of open space... no need to build levees up the ass.
well if they built them like the incredible levees of holland there would have been no problem but this is the quantity over quality, get it done quick usa
After being in a sor at my first college for two years I chose to transfer to a school with no greek life, because frat boys disgusted me THAT much. I don't like anyone mistreating their surrounding and being incoherent in public during daylight or weeknights...doesn't matter if it's a stupid frat boy or a homeless person with a crack habit. And Paris has a lot of culture and architecture to counteract how dirty it is everywhere except Fauborg St honore. I know No has freanch arcitecture as well, but it's really not comparable imo.
No worries... There were some jazz musicians playing Outkast songs outside, so that was kinda fun. Uhhum...at least the 10ish Mickey D's in the French Quarter are still always full.
It's truly amazing how they managed to hide the fact that this place is a shithole in the popular media... the tourist industry is still somehow surviving here. But man... seriously... I've been to a whole lot of US cities, and New Orleans is nastier than 99% of them (including poor ass ghetto trailer parks).
I can't find shit for photos comparing New Orleans before to New Orleans NOW all the before and after photos are of while it was flooded +_+ oh oh anyone remember the Katie Couric rowboat incident??
It sits below sea level, and surrounded by water. Sounds like a perfect place to keep your feet dry, eh?
my family is from New Orleans, mostly in kenner but ya, its always been a shitty place. the weather is preatty shitty. but you dont go to new orleans to be pampered by the scenery. you go to meet the most eccentric and outgoing people you will ever know. the food is amazing.
