I think I'd have to be in the "old school soldier" catagory when it comes to these guys. Undertow was amazing... AEnima a little less so... Lateralus was like the worst shit I've ever heard.

I'm not as into this type of music anymore, so I wasn't expecting to care for this new one much either, but I was suprised at how good it was. Decent CD for casual listening IMO, not much more...

tool sound like they're tryna be grunge to me. i dont fukin like em like, and no i wasnt kiddin "right" about them havin elements of grunge in their music becuase they do. how can you say they don't? im not sayin in all their songs but definitely in the songs i've heard by them.

by the way if you think by "grunge" i mean anythin along the lines of "smells like teen spirit" or nirvana's "nevermind" album, think again. i mean real grunge.

I dont see any elements of grunge in tool's music....... I hear metal and art rock. black sabbath meets pink floyd and rush.......

 

actually I like the lateralus album more than both undertow and aenima. undertow is a rather poor album, if I do say so..... I think they keep getting better with age.

This album is fucking brilliant, it's like a religious experience listening to it. For me they get better with every album.

 

I will resurrect this old thread to say this. How can anyone say Tool sucks? I just don't understand. Tool is just plain awesome. No ifs, ands or buts about it. Its kick-ass music that can enlighten, anger, calm and even teach.

As far as the new album (or cd, whatever you want to call it) is concerned, it is a highly enjoyable one. Although, in my opinion, Lateralus is their best so far.

For you haters out there (and I won't mention any names.) What do you expect? You come onto this obvious Tool fan thread and bash the band. Now if it was the new ablum you didn't like that would be one thing. But no, you bashed the band. Sounds to me you just like to pick fights. Start a 'who hates Tool' thread if you want to be heard.

 

TOOL is good, ppl that say they suck want there parents to put it in them. they are there own type of music, theys do good art, and they all around kick major ass!

 

actually, the thread is for anyone to voice their opinions on the band.
just because someone said tool suck (i.e. me) doesn't mean you gotta get all uptight and angry towards their opinion.
i'm not trying to pick fights with anyone, i'm sure you tool fans are all very nice people and we'd probably get along in person.
