many observations are subjective, and i'll not deny that mine are no exception. to me a very narrow gauged small form factor railway, winding its way through the wilderness, or even the realms of fantasy, is not out of place, where as a huge expanse of multi-lane pavement, very much is. likewise a single modest dwelling, or small village, as opposed to the self imposed stresses and tensions, of the greed and aggressiveness of a city. wilderness is the real garden of edin, that before our fascination with imposing the will of our own egos, was the entirety of our planed. all life owns this world, as much or more then our own. and the universal wonder of strangeness, walks unimpeded between its roots and rocks and branches.
i would guess that horizontally flat line running across the image before the mountains to be an abandoned highway or railway right of way, or perhaps not abandoned but without traffic currently. oh and also that contact zone between the two different, clearly distinct colors of surface material, that is where i would look for interesting mineralization if i were out there looking for interesting rocks or prospecting. i would probably be up there among the rocks rather then down on the flat with all its pretty flowers. i can smell the sage though, and it smells wonderful. there's probably things you could eat or build houses with in among them, but i'm not familiar enough to know which they are. i know i don't think i'd want to be standing out there in the middle of the flat in all that sun even so. but i might want to find out if my guess is correct and follow it and see where it goes.
