I agree with brew except on the wax point. Sounds to me like your hair isn't dry or clean enough, maybe you should try something other than the lush bar? And wash them a little more frequently. Unless I'm using bronners (hardly ever) I only ever wash my hair by basically doing a deep cleanse, i.e. sticking my head in a bucket. I don't usually leave it in a towel afterwards, but this way I really think they get properly clean. Just curious are they congoing at all? Almost every single dread of mine is joined to another near the root meaning the loose hair is mingling and locking. Dread balling basically means stuffing the loose hair into a ball and ramming it into the root of the nearest dread, sometimes it'll unravel, sometimes it won't. I know you said you don't like getting them wet, but I think you need to get past that and just do it, then try to get them dry as quick as possible, they're not that long, they should dry reasonably quickly if you squeeze them properly. Anyway brew what are you doing back on here? Grow some locks again or gtfo
If you're thorough enough with a crochet hook they'll stay put, just use a fine hook and go for maximum isotropy (You deal with materials so you'll know that word)
Uni semester finished and have had a bit more time on my hands. I've always been lurking, just not posting. And dont worry, hair is on the regrow!
Ok, I disagree that this is about greasiness. You just have soft/fine baby hairs around your hairline like a lot of people do. dread balling: grab tip b/n index and thumb pinch rub in circular motion until ball forms tuck into root base of nearby dread voila
