I know that. I used to hunt for years and years. I stopped hunting 13 years ago. In the original discussion on this point, I said the 30-30 was good for Hogs. I don't feel like there is a place for an AR-15 in the sporting world. Colorado would not allow it for years. Colorado hunting law allows a maximum number of bullets in the magazine and they have to be bigger than 25 caliber. So, the 223, 220, 222, 22, 17, and the 22 Hornet are only allowed on the range, or prairie dog shoots which take place on private land. The problem with semi-auto rifles in hunting situations is really quiet simple: the rifle reloads itself after the first shot and your finger is already inside the trigger guard. That is a safety issue in the wild lands and other hunters are present. I also would say that anyone who needs to shoot a deer or an elk with five or nine rounds from a 308 Winchester is really not a hunter. That guy is more like an arm chair … well … an overweight Rambo.
The 8x57 Mauser round was manufactured an used by Germany during WWII. The NAZIS had it made at the BRNO factory in Czechoslovakia. The factory was taken over after the fall of Germany in 1944. The 8x57 round was used in the Mauser bolt action infantry battle rifle and the MG 34, and MG 42, and MG 43 (MG stands for machine gun). The 8x57 will kill anything on planet Earth. It the full metal jacket version, it is illegal in Colorado. In the lead nose version, it is allowed for hunting. In many states, no one is allowed to DISCHARGE such a weapon at all, or maybe only in a controlled rifle range.
Why ban something just to irritate someone in yoir mind is a bully. There are many practical reasons why owning a diesel pickup is essential.
That's why you do your best to be as close to 100% as practically possible. Irrelevant to the point at hand. The point being, one shot, one kill, when you're in imminent danger is rare at best and all around unrealistic at worst. Well, I don't hunt yet and I eat kosher. The chances of me needing an AR for a hog hunting trip is slim to none. I only brought it up since the subject was dealing with ARs and hunting and why one might need one. A BAR is heavy, body armor is bulky, and your chances of a successful hunt by staying in your Jeep for the entire time is small. But hey, if you want to lug around a 15 lb firearm and wear body armor, more power to you. If you're within the hunting regulations, it is your right to use whatever you think gets the job done. Like I said earlier, I never said that you should only hunt hogs with an AR. I only said that they have there place when hunting. I never said that having more ammunition at your disposel prevents calamitous occurance. In fact, I was saying along the lines of what you just said about airbags. Quick follow up shots allows one the chance to save themselves from being maimed. It may not 100% successful, but at least you have that option. Again, never said that. Also, I was more so pointing out the flaw in your argument rather than making a direct comparison between having and AR for hunting and airbags. The original point was you were basically arguing for putting restrictions on other people and telling them to deal with it if they find themselves in a situation where the restrictions could harm them. I never said poor shots. When adrenaline kicks in, especially the kind that comes with facing imminent danger, people can and often miss. This applies to everyone. From novice gun owners to Special Forces. This isn't Hollywood where the good guy never miss his target. I never said that you did. Again, you choose whatever you want to hunt with, just don't restrict other people from choosing there own methods that are within regulations.
Regulations aren't dogma, they can be changed at any time. I have yet to see a valid argument for allowing assault style weapons to be used for hunting.
Oi 11 pages We still arguing about about a gun ban in a country you all probably couldnt have found on a map a year ago? Half of you would probably still point to Hawaii and say thats New Zealand
I have known where New Zealand is since age five...as well as Luxembourg, Uganda, and the Belgian Congo...now D R Congo.
Not only nuts join the military but we need to be honest about the line of work and the motives of some people who join. For some it's "so I can kill people" and not higher morals. The military can not really afford to screen for this. In a way it's what they want and recruitment is down in times of war. So they accept that there are a lot of fucked up 18 year olds who will not rise in rank. What they will do is their time which is all that is needed. If they die it's fine and if they survive hopefully they like their discounts at Denny's and can find some sort of blue collar job. Many in the service will tell you this. Their coworkers are fucked up people. They like the power of the job and in the fog of war they do a lot that was not nessisary. An AK is for long range shooting but is not as accurate as a M-16 which is what the Marines use last I heard or maybe they changed. Possibly due to inferior Soviot Engineering. I know most AK's are made in Ameirca now but traditionally they were not. You can make a AK automatic if you wish it's not that hard. Of course current American laws don't allow you to own an automatic riffle but there are ways around ways to have extended magazines. A gun is a machine and a machine can be modified. Shotguns are issued to the military for close quarter combat which is not the kind of combat that happens as often as long range. It's not ideal but it happens. I think I covered all your points worth mentioning.
