Did you take a temp job reffing the NFL?

I didn't watch the game, but after watching all the replays and still shots I can't see how anyone could think that Tate caught that ball. When they hit the ground the Packer player was cradling the ball against his chest, and Tate was behind him reaching one hand around touching the ball.

Still shots, when out of context like in the video posted earlier are incredibly misleading. They are only useful if they are freeze frames in a moving video.

But yeah -- I have no clue what I saw before. Looking at the original game footage on YouTube - I must reverse my decision. Looks like an interception after all.

You make a good point about the still shots. But the evidence is overwhelming. Bookies are even giving people's money back......I've never heard I that happening before.

If you look at the video.. you see the one ref looking over at the other.. the one doesn't know what to call.. sees the ref start to put his hands in the air... so he throws his hands up and calls it good... while the other ref points them up and then calls it no good.. mindless mindless sheeple refs.. clearly an interception.. but still a loss to the Pack.. SUCK IT PACK

haha...yeah so true...the one ref clearly had no clue what to call and was looking at the other. I feel really bad. This game is on a completely different level for them and it's not even their fault at all. They're trying their best, but in truth, they're failing miserably.

I think the ref should have got flagged for Pass Interference on this play.

maybe the lesson to be learned is that with 0 time remaining, it's better for a defender to knock the ball away than try to make an interception.

    crap call though.

If you saw the end of Regulation of the Lions/Titans game you'd realize that trying to knock the ball away is not necessarily better.

I think I just found the answer to the review question.

there had to be indisputable evidence that the call on the field was wrong. therefor it stood.

yeah, but in the endzone or near the sidelines you can knock it out of bounds

    Here is the rule

It's clear on the replay that Tate had one arm nowhere near the ball when the catch was made on the replay, therefore not simultaneous possession. The only reason I can think they didn't overturn it in the replay booth is that they are morons.

they can only overturn plays in the booth if there is indisputable evidence to overturn it, which is hard to do.

whether or not a player has control of a ball is rarely indisputable.

it was a totally crap call on the field, but if the refs assert that Jennings did not have control of the ball before Tate got his hand on it, the booth can't overrule.

I blame the refs, not the booth on this one.

maybe the answer is to let all of the calls get made from the booth

maybe they should just get rid of the refs and let the players do what they want! I wanna see Drew Brees head go flying off because he got drop kicked by Jared Allen.. Allen then recovers the fumbled head.. runs it back and spikes it into the ground before kicking the extra point with it

I have to admit that I haven't seen either of them play. Most accounts that I have read seem to say that both have done pretty well so far for rookies.

It's not a big shocker if the #2 pick does better than the #1 pick in a game. Lots of factors influence a QB's performance, there's really no part of team play, or opponents play, that doesn't make a mark.

the stats don't really matter that much. and it also takes time to see good players develop

It's also not a big surprise if big shot rookies end up fizzling. both these guys seem like the real deal though.

    Regular refs are back...

Ridiculous calls will probably be minimized but it will likely take a few weeks to shake off the rust.
