No it's not a sport. It's a sad commentary on the arrogance of humanity and our love of torment and violence. I have no problem killing an animal for food when there is no alternative available. But it should be done with respect and there shouldn't be any waste. Afterall, something is giving up its life to nourish another. I will never understand why the concepts of humility and showing a little bit of respect towards other living things is so difficult for our species.
I very clearly remember being told back in elementary school that if the bull kills or seriously hurts the bull fighter, the bull would be allowed to live and put out to pasture. I believed that until I was about thirty years old. Fucking liars
It really doesn't make sense to me, either. I'm rather carnivorous, though I would certainly prefer they were killed humanely, and I see no problem with service animals (as long as they are treated well), pets, or anything like that, that animal rights people may have problems with. However, it just doesn't make sense that the winning species still feels the need to treat animals in any way but friendly. But if a stink bug was in my room right now, I certainly wouldn't be saying that.
Have you ever noticed we tend to kill bugs in a relatively humain fashion? Of course I'm not including the idiots that do things like pull the wings off of flys.
I don't think we do it on purpose =P There are the fly strips, those are pretty messed up.. I think I do see your point though. We just can't outlive the idea that animals are a threat to us, even if they rarely are nowadays.
ugh...nothing disturbs me as much as seeing someone impaled. That guy had it coming though, fuck him. Bull, one point. Man, zero. we kill bugs in a humane fashion because how else would we kill them? They're so small that its pointless, not to mention difficult and tedious, to kill a bug any other way than quickly and painlessly. We also kill bugs very arbitrarily. I find it disturbing how easily humans can squash out a little bug's life. What exactly is the point? If its a black widow and its about to bite the fuck out of you and possibly make you lose an arm, by all means, kill that fucker. But I think its stupid that many people just kill any bug they come across, just because its there and they can. just a side note, this post has really made me realize I have the vocabulary of a burly trucker. Oh well, fuck it.
so why do they kill bulls after they win a fight? is it because of the same reason they confiscate and kill people's dogs when they are viscious? seems to me, if you want a sport of bullfighting, you let the beastly ones live. Not much of a challenge if you choose all the pussy bulls.
By the time those super manly matadors get in there to "fight" the bull it is already into the process of bleeding to death. Even if it did somehow live through that it would be crippled for the rest of its life. The nerves, muscles and tendons in its neck and shoulders are stabbed repeatedly with lances by the picadors on horseback first to weaken it. That's not including those things you see stuck into the bulls shoulders that move around and tear away more muscle and sinew every time the animal moves. The bull has no chance once it enters the ring. I actually stand up and cheer every time I see a bull fighter gravely injured. I'm not kidding.
I think Bull fighting is kept alive by the rose industry. The people that make matador outfits might have a hand in it too.
lol. great. i hate bull fighting, it's cruel. fuck matadors. not that gory compared to the guys foot i saw today that was almost completely severed from his leg and dangling around
motor vehicle accident, the guy was the passenger and was lying right back in his seat. the car hit a tree and his foot just got severed off pretty much! they tried to put it back on but it wasn't really going too well.
Good, fuck that guy. Shouldn't have been fucking around with bulls in spandex. NASCAR and darts are considered sports...
