Governments around the world refuse to fund any other type of energy research. Some may fund solar power and what not, like our govt does, but the amount they give I could pull out of my ass if I wanted to.

Sucks, doesn't it? Have you ever noticed how how most people never look twards the future? They just seek how to make themselves richer with no regard whatsoever to the future.

Yes, when I read yours, I thought "I wonder if he got this from Derek", hence the reason I asked who it was you were talking with.

Oh, dear... what a Hipforums addict I am. You poor people. :D

Chuck, they may not be funding it now, but I'm pretty sure things will change when faced with a sense of urgency... do you guys HONESTLY, TRULY believe that when the oil runs out then that's it for civilisation? Do you honestly truly believe that governments around the world have a grand plan to go backwards? To destroy their economies, plunge their populations into plague and famine, destroy civilisation as we have come to know it, etc etc etc? Nah, sorry, this whole theory doesn't check out with me.

its not like a choice... 1000 years ago there were around a billion people i believe, and this was a pretty stable number. Since we've started using petroleum based fertilizers the population has skyrocketed. now what happens to food supply when these fertilizers no longer exist.

Bad idea. It has been done before, but with disasterous consequences. Human waste contains bacteria that can contaminate food supply and cause an untold number of people to become sick. Animal fertilizer (at least the kind that's commonly used) has no such harmful bacteria...or if they do, it's processed in such a way that it doesn't contaminate the food supply.

LMAO Eddie G, I told you you were witty

Well spooner I guess we'll have no choice but to go down the "less efficient" route then... at least we'll have something.
