    Dope,

Doubt indicates there is a lack of factual information.

no but the two issues are not related.
Doubt indicates no information so to add i doubt that is compounding a lack of information with specific information and offering it as meaningful.
Another empty phrase is i'm going to. No one knows what will happen, maybe an accident waiting and a promise not kept. the correct approach is as I will as a statement of being in action. You saw the movie doesn't give you any difference to speculate on things you have no tactile contact with. It is easy to plant your feet firmly on the ground and navigate the terrain in very responsible by confining you definitions to what is the same, apple apple and what is different apple orange and what it's purpose is, apple and oranges are good for eating. When you say red apple are substantially different than green apples then you have distorted your perception. You could say that red is a variety of apple but it is still an apple.
I think you see what i am saying

    Dope,

As I read previously, a group calling themselves claimed to be responsible for hacking Sony, and I've yet to see anything linking them to North Korea. North Korea has a reputation of issuing threats, but I take them with a grain of salt ignoring them. Sony seems to have done the same. As far as the movie goes, I simply said that it was entertaining.

Some apples are indeed substantially different from others, but without any distortion of perception they remain apples. While I do see what you are saying, I can't say that I can make any sense of it.

    Lots - currently undergoing torture.

There really can't be much underground tec scene in NK, because they have absolutely no tec, or time to think about it.

The graves there are empty. The normal people have nothing to eat, much less compute on.

As for attacking free speech, it turns out that sony are the ones who attacked our free speech - and they only got massive viewership for it. Turns out playing censorship games makes money - expect more.

Is there any purpose at all to your posts?

Sony made about a million dollars this weekend. They only have to do the same for the next 43 weekends to break even on this movie.

that's not counting sales and rentals on Xbox and other platforms. It probably won't inflate sales significantly, but as someone who absolutely despises going to the movies, I do think its an interesting experiment.

You don't think they'll make a tremendous amount? Don't look at box office sales, they're going to sell it to millions of people online, who would never have gone to a theater over some cheesy comedy flick.

    I do.

They don't deserve a fucking dime.

If they'd come out strong and said we won't bow to censorship by scum, don't bow to terroristic threats, go to the movies if you're a real fuckin' american, well shit, I would have gone to my first movie in years. I think many people would have gone who would not have otherwise, out of a show of support for sony.

Think of it like 9/11 - the world had tremendous sympathy, putin more or less wrote us a blank check, we could have made the world much better, instead our stupid reactionary bullshit blew everything to shit, and then blew that shit all over everything (and we're constantly spraying more). How couldn't you have sympathy for sony, and feel personally wronged by whoever was responsible? They could have made it into a big "party at the theater for freedom" thing, instead they behaved shamefully.

I get that they were put on the spot - and that's the test of a company, person, nation, etc. They failed the test, miserably. And then they didn't apologize, they pretended they'd always been strong about it - doubly cowardly, about even admitting cowardice. If they'd said we fucked up, I still would have gone to see it, or at least bought it online.

I can't Imagine that sony is going to break even on mediocre box office sales and online sales alone. Wasn't it a 45 million dollar movie? A video on demand sale is what? $10? So judging by the $1 million opening weekend are 4-5 million people gonna buy it? Not to mention you can rent it for like $2.99.

Breaking even in Hollywood is technically losing money because of marketing costs. Also who knows how much monetary damage was caused by the hack (cost of fixing the servers, paying IT guys, loss of sales due to bad PR, etc)

I wouldn't be surprised if sony takes a bigger hit then people are thinking they will.

I'm quite sure they would have made a lot more with a normal opening weekend, without controversy. A movie of that type, released at Christmas, can easily pick up ten to twenty million in first weekend ticket sales. The people who wait for the video... that's a different crowd.

In addition to the computer damage and disruption to business, Sony faces a multi-million dollar class action lawsuit from thousands of employees, for failure to protect their personal information. As these employees become victims of identity theft, even more liability will come Sony's way. Any way you look at it, this is a financial disaster for Sony that won't be cleaned up anytime soon.

Also, it's hard to put a price tag on damage to reputation brought on by e-mail leaks. There are talented actors and directors that will never work with Sony again, or at least not for a long time. This will negatively impact future profits.

That's the way I was thinking at first, then I found out that no theaters were under any kind of legal contract to Sony to show the movie. So, they were in no position to say any such thing.

In my past reading about the movie business, I had never given any thought to the part of it that involves getting a completed film distributed to theaters. Obviously, this situation went way outside of everyone's comfort zone, and put something under a microscope that the public almost never sees. They're used to having months to work these arrangements out in advance, at a calm pace.

You accomplished it deftly. In a free life there are no meters running but we run meters, Same old same old doesn't cut it any more. Ease of being should be on your mind, not the things that are difficult. peace

Any way you put it sony's fucked. They're going to get railroaded with class action lawsuits so damn hard it'll just be sad.

15m online, 2.8 box office, first 4 days - not all numbers in as of the compiling of my stats.

Sounds like a smash hit, considering the circumstances.

Of course they have a lot of other crap on their plate - but the interview seems to be doing just fine, and maybe considerably better than it would have - in the long run, it doesn't seem to be a loss at all.

Which sounds great, until I remember that this is after their totally shameful behavior that should absolutely result in their forfeiture of any profit (or recouped expense) that it might generate.
