you were maybe 15 years when vietnam was ending. dunno why you think you've done "something" to end a war
I was having a conversation about this earlier.... us younguns cant exactly get atop a soapbox in the middle of town square to try to make a stand for something. What I'm trying to say is, by what method should we take for change? What was done back in the 60s and 70s wouldn't work now. Do you guys know what I mean?
Brave sir rubin has hit it on the head .How do you get to tell anyone you want peace if they are going to kill you just for what you are .You would be dead before you got your message out. Remember 9/11
I dont need to remember 9/11 coz i live in russia here we have more examples and tragedies I just try to be optimistic and positive I know there's much evil on the earth... and still...everything is in owr own hands... well no i wont be dead so soon
Pretty lady, Che might instated some form of "communism" in Cuba, but both you and me know just what Communism really is... an ideal itself, and an ideal that DOES NOT function as long as there are power-hungry people... and there are always power-hungry people. All Che, Fidel and the rest of those kids did was staging an occupation which overthrew the current government (not a nice one, I must admit) and replaced it with a dictatorship. Cuba has been lacking everything ever since then... no American products, no good salaries, shit..... no shampoo! You must also remember how many peopl Che's idealism killed. So know, idealism is pretty, beautiful, marvelous... but... not realistic.
Rubin, I get what youre saying, but I dont think it makes my idea presented in this thread unrealistic. I agree wholeheartedly with you. I'd like to compare what Im saying, and the couple people on here who've expressed the "un-do-ability" of my idea to painting and artwork, to try and illustrate a point. So, after saying my idea, there were people saying its unrealistic and not worth the trouble, etc. etc. Its like many people who dont paint because of fear. Many people dont do artwork because they think they "suck" and that they wont produce a masterpiece. They let their fear of not "accomplishing" the painting take away their chance of ever painting one. Then theres the people who let go of their fear....they paint and paint what they feel, without fear, and they put their energy and heart into it....and it turns out to be a beautiful piece of work. We need to let go of our fear, our laziness, and get up and paint our painting.
I don't think this revolution can be about ending war, uniting east and west. That's religion, that's people's belief system. They won't change it just because we say so...and in saying so and expecting everybody to conform to one belief or way of life (the only way they could unite without war or conflict..and even then people would find a way to create conflict.) is just as bad as the U.S. pushing "democracy" onto other nations. Why can't we start a revolution about something more realistic and concrete? Like prolonging the earth's lifespan? Sure, educate and spread love and tolerance...but also spread love and respect of the planet we're destroying. There's all this talk of global warming in the media...the little arrows on the backs of most products that suggest you recycle. But how much impact does that make on people? Do they see that triangle of arrows and think, "Ah, I NEED to recycle this." No. The trash can's more convenient. We as a people are all about convenience, all about NOW...even the hybrid car/veggie oil engine/corn thing has kind of died down with the general public. that shit's expensive, regardless of how much money it'll save in the future. There's no money or reason for it NOW. So why not try and change something that's more reachable and, in my opinion, more necessary? Can't we start a revolution about clean air and water? Food supply? Anybody?
I agree fullheartly that those things are more important indeed, and that the goal seems more realistic. But if the majority of the people won't change their comfortable habits or doesn't want to see it it's getting as unrealistic as worldpeace unfortunately.. By the way, I liked your example Pianoperson. If every single person who likes peace, love and a cleaner and healthier environment did actually something instead of dreaming about it and complaining about how it wouldn't make a difference, there would already be a change and an awareness that things can be done better.
Wouldn't it be awesome if we got to the point where garbage bins were obsolete? All recycling bins and compost heaps...
hm... some of you say we should have a revolution. i agree. we should unite east and west. i agree. we should change someones religion couse otherwise there is no chance of uniting. NO WAY. im a catholic living in a country with 2.5 milion people who 98% of them are muslims. let mi say something bout them. muslims CAN understand western way of thinking. here we live in perfect harmony and we have done so for las 500 years. there is old saying in my county (kosovo - albania) : the albanian religion is albanianism itself (it rimes in my language lol.) durin WWII the muslims have defended jews and coexisted with catholics and protestants. we are the perfect example for the religious tolerance in the world. how can the world be united. well the fanatism NEVER gave ANYTHING good to the world. but muslim religion is a very peacful religion. fundamentalism is destroying it. and america is not helping at all. it just is pouring gasoline in alredy burning flame. becouse of american intevention in meadle east more people are getting into fundamentalism. the only way to achive to bild a bridge between west and east in by education (also religious education in islamic states so they can understand what they religion realy is about), and world movement of peace. NO VIOLENCE. the BIGGEST PROBLEM is GLOBALISATION. it has some good things and some bad but the mos important thing that globalisationis making everything a product. its inprisoning your mind so you cannot say what you think (EX. art, music(dont forget if you dont play metal or rep today there is no way to get a record deal) etc). THIS Is A REAL PROBLEM. my opinion the music can change people minds, but we have to be more creative and better equiped against the massive power of corporations. We should turn off the TV and get down to buisness. u wanna revolution ? writte a song. paint a picture. walk the nature. AND TAKE FRIENDS to spread the word of peace(but dont be lazy and just smoke pot all day). people will see that we are human not some robot in this system. BE FREE. FUCK THE WAR. peace to all of you and i hope u understud what i just said
