I'm as hardcore an atheist as you're ever going to find. If by atheist we mean someone who does not believe in god. It's just that atheism to me is personal...I don't care what other people do.

Like being bisexual or black (I'm both). I don't have to tell everyone who I'm fucking or say yo yo yo at the start of every sentence in order to be those things.

I'm not a republican. And if you've read my posts, it would have been clear that I'm not sympathetic to Platonism at all.

But you seem to expect someone who's bisexual and black to be automatically leftist. I'm not that either. Not anymore.

You said you identify most with the "Old Right", is that not republican?

 

Republican to me is a machine-politics party. The Old Right is a political philosophy.

I've described what it is about the Old Right that I relate to (laissez faire, competition, hierarchy, self-interest). It has nothing to do with the Republican Party, especially not nowadays.

It has more to do with people like H.L. Mencken (who was also a confirmed atheist) and the like-minded. If you wikipedia H.L. Mencken, you'll get as close to my point of view as you're likely to get.
