He won't overturn any of it -- the Patriot Act, Military Commissions, John Warner Defense Authorization, etc. Obama supports all of these.
Death Tax! What exactly is that, the right to money you never earned or care about? Rat I guess you'll just have to keep your shorts out of your crack for a few months. Thing is he is undoing shit the Bush/Cheney administration thought they could get on the books for eternity. He's proven that they aren't above reversing. I for one am happy for that. Would I like a repeal of the patriot act...shit yes! He may get to that as well. Rove is testifying for me that's an improvement. I am not a bee, and I don't think Obama is either. He's an intellegent leader doing things by degrees. Not based on m ass hysteria.
When Obama gets rid of the Patriot Act (or any of the aforementioned legislation mentioned above), let me know and I will send you a check for $100. Make that $200. What is Obama undoing that the Bush administration started, aside from the ban on stem cells?
I would if I had that kind of money. But what the hell, I could bet a trillion dollars and I still wouldn't worry because I know what Obama represents and what "his" agenda is. Obama will turn just the right legislation over to convince the naive that he is about "change" and is different from Bush, but the most dangerous legislation will remain. I say we will see even more such legislation with Obama, as he is no less of a tyrant than Bush and represents the same monied interests that control this country. Obama is simply a more convincing, better spoken puppet than Bush. Keep in mind that one of the first things Obama did when he got into office was sign multiple executive orders that were purported by the media to end Bush's torture policies, but in reality they actually authorize torture under a number of various loopholes. Obama's Torture Loopholes http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=12041 Obama claims to be shutting down Guantanamo, but makes no mention of Bagram in Afghanistan, which will soon be even larger than Gitmo. Afghanistan's Bagram Air Base Will Be Obama's Guantanamo http://www.alternet.org/rights/128273/
he said it himself, that he's "probably" going to keep the powers gained from the patriot act. i'm not a psychic, but probably usually means yes. barry and his friends have too much to lose if they overturned everything bush did. he's just making a few changes to appease the voters. i can smell the whiff of insincerity on him.
it's funny that the alternet link has an ad to the southern poverty law center. one of the biggest profiters of hate in america. they are much of the reason why needless hate crime legislation has been enacted in the past. they have a bigtime anti firarms agenda too. morris dees definately has a few skeletons in his closet and i'm sure he's stuffed plenty of money into obama's pockets too. it's believed to be very likely that they had prior knowledge of the attack on the oklahoma city bombmings. they had plants set up in elohim city, which is a place tim mcveigh was said to have hung out at. if this is true, it's not like morris sleeze will ever see any justice for complicity in it.
One of the greatest things Obama has done is this: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/10/us/politics/10signing.html?_r=2&hp
Yes, I agree completely and have mentioned the SPLC in my writings numerous times. I know all about them. Alternet is just another controlled opposition website of the left, but sometimes they have good articles.
It's up to our congress to protect us where have they been? They voted for war with Iraq, they voted for the Patriot Act I and II, they've sold us out, they did away with overisght of the financial markets and Bush/Cheney were complicit. I am hoping they will now step up to the plate, but why should they when they can blame everything on Obama?
obama went along with all of this too. there's no sense in distancing him for the blame for things he's involved with. obama voted to keep funding the war in iraq. even after telling everyone he was against it from the begining. bill clinton did plenty of his own deregulating of big buisness. so not all this can be blamed on bush and cheney. just because he hasn't been in office for very long, doesn't mean he wasn't involved in any of this crap. he was also all for the same bailout deals which bush and cheney pushed for. as a matter of fact, more democrats voted yes on it than republicans did.
Yes, and the thing is, people need to learn to start looking beyond the Democrat vs. Republican nonsense because it doesn't even matter which party it is, as they are both the same aside for a few small superficial issues they use to make people think one side is different from the other. Obama removed the ban from stem cells, and I was predicting he would. What I am NOT predicting is him overturning the worst bills that Bush signed into law, which Obama just so happens to support.
He's undoing corporate tax cuts, closing Gitmo, scrapping the no child left behind program, removing the clauses on environmental agencies banned from infrastructural development, etc. And that's only the first month in office.
1) Many of the biggest corporations get away with no paying taxes already. It's unlikely to change and has been going on for a long time. http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSN1249465620080812 2) Obama says he's closing Gitmo. Whether he is or not is yet to be seen. But, as I said, there is still Bagram in Afghanistan, which is soon to be even larger than Gitmo. Obama is making no plans of closing Bagram. http://www.alternet.org/rights/128273/ 3) Scrapping the No Child Left Behind program? Not according to this article from today's Washington Times: http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/mar/10/obama-calls-accountability-education/
Wrong. The corporate tax cuts Bush gave to the rich is larger than my country's GDP. 2) Gitmo is a pleasant start. 3) Eh. I thought he was scrapping the No Child Left Behind program, but it would seem he is re-formatting it. Kewl. Someone had to.
But I am not talking about Bush's tax cuts. I said most corporations pay no taxes, and they haven't been paying taxes for years, even before Bush took office. When I hear about corporate tax cuts, that would mean the corporations that actually pay taxes to begin with. Well, what about the 72 percent of all foreign corporations and 57 percent of all US corporations that do business in the US, that pay no taxes already?
