HEY! i'm the first to mention in this thread that the bust was on loan and given back. it was a amatuerish gift. he didn't to "dismantle" anything to give a good gift, but he shoulda done more than send an aide to blockbuster and the white house gift shop.
Was it purchased at Blockbuster? What would have been a good gift? What about calling to the forefront that Obama's skin is a little darker than most by giving a slave related gift? Were either of Obama's parents slaves? Does the US sanction slavery today? We elected someone we thought was an honorable intelligent legislator. We didn't consider race,
It seems the Brits did. It seems racial profiling is widespread in Britain . Not something the US citizenery think is important.
We didn't consider race. A number of people can't see past it, still to this day. Sad when you consider how we like to ring our Freedom Bell in front of so many others.
No but the Brit's used timbers from a relic anti-slavery ship to make their gift. What about the historic integrity of that relic? Shouldn't that of been safeguarded for prosterity, instead of gifting our president with a pencil holder? And when our president leaves office who does it belong to? The US citizens or our black president?
What didn't Gordon Brown gift us with more than Tony Blair as our peace envoy in the Middel East? Palestinians deaths...I'd rather receive some dvds thank you.
i think you're taking this ENTIRELY too seriously. over then next four years you're gonna be seeing quite a lotta this flack. best get used to it now.
:smilielol5: MAJOR LULZ HERE!!!! :smilielol5: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/news...-in-No-10.html :smilielol5: :smilielol5:
Yeah, it's not that hard to obtain a universal DVD player. I find this odd, because most politicians and international diplomats have them to use when they travel. Hell, my professors have them so they can watch foreign movies.
I still have a problem with a slave related gift. Afterall some of Obama's ancestors owned slaves. Probably something he'd rather not focus on. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2007/mar/04/uselections2008.barackobama
Did you really think about what I bolded and what you said... Canada Voted on the songs derrr I wonder what that is
Daammn Fyrenza, all those miserable feeling because of a DVD box set. You're a sweet woman and all but don't you think you're going a little overboard. Geez I hate to think what you will tell a guy if he forgets your birthday.
And to think I used to be embarrassed every time bush opened opened his mouth. One of my favorites was when he gave the German chancellor a back massage. That is really lame though, I mean I don't have a problem with the gift itself, personally I'd rather have a set of DVDs than all the other crap they pass around to each other, but the fact that you can't even play American DVDs on players in other countries makes the gift useless. What were they thinkin'? I guess they could send 'em each a DVD player as an after thought, but it still seems kinda stupid...
^ hey corey i think she meant more of the size of gesture afforded to the prime minister by obama... The prime minister gave a detailed well thought out gift that had historical significance and personal significance. He gave him a dvd of 25 classic american films most of which he has probably already seen... ON top of that he did not even anticipate the dvd region problem... Its like obama saying I couldnt come up with anything in time here take some fucking dvds
