" At 1:40 am the police barreled through the first line of defense the occupiers put up, an old veterans group carrying flags known as Veterans for Peace. While officers began arresting occupiers and tearing down tents they kept pushing others back, sometimes throwing them to the ground. People were screaming and yelling stupid nonsense at the police but most complied, albeit angrily.

Within twenty minutes the park was clear of protesters and DPW workers were throwing the remains of the camp into garbage trucks Reports are that they arrested over 100 people and there were no injuries. The whole operation was incredible in its brutal and quick efficiency; it was over so fast.

Now, even though the police may have won the night the protesters might win the PR war. Videos of the old veterans getting knocked, and in some cases thrown, to the ground by the police will have likely go viral. "

Arresting Viet Nam vets? Those fuckin' cops are completely immoral. They will do anything they are told. They don't think for themselves -they are no more than hired guns for the corporatocracy. Disgusting, albeit predictable.

Not to sound insensitive or anything... but not only was this fairly predictable, it was the whole point of putting them out front.

students, vets, unions, kids, women... each time they take action against one of these groups, the movement swells...

When police take overly aggressive action on peaceful protests it's going to swell.

I am SO PISSED and EMBARRASSED right now.

I still support the larger occupy movements, but I no longer support my local Occupy Charlotte group. Seriously, it's been overtaken by a bunch of pussy college kids who are too spoiled to sacrifice for a worthy cause. The more idiots like this, and the less likely anyone is to support us. I don't care if the media's "fair" or not, we NEED them. Ignoring them makes you look childish and ridiculous. Way to put your beauty sleep ahead of the revolution. Gandhi fucking STARVED himself, and these morons get mad because someone shines a light on them when they're trying to sleep. They should be ASHAMED.

First, thank you for attending. And yes it was pretty lame to to tell the media to get lost, this is a time for sacrifice and being sleep deprived is just something that goes without saying. But please dont just pass them up as a bunch of posers or something. Chances are this is very new to them and therefor somewhat stressful. I attended protest for the last four days in Buffalo and I must say that it has been one of the most enriching things I have ever done. Support amongst the community is great, cop cars , firetrucks, and city trucks all blew their horns or fired their sirens in support of us. I would roughly say about 5 in 10 passing cars gave a positive response. Maybe 1 in 10 were negative. We passed out hundreds of flyers and I only seen one or two get thrown out the car window. I plan on taking tomorrow off and get back to the protest Thursday as it will probably rain and it will probably be few people out.

Yes, the times are a-changing. THEY are not ashamed, and THEY do not laugh at fickle science in "any conflicting definition for the people".

I could improve the concept of involved science. But the debate is difficult when it came to Globalization. They're over my head worried about protectionism. OR, I don't know.:)

Frankly, I'm surprised that Charlotte was able to get anybody to show up for a protest at all. That town lives and dies by the fortunes of Bank of America. Probably half those kids have parents who were recently laid off by BoA. They have a lot to learn.

Yeah, they should probably realize that its a good sign the media actually wants to cover this at all, instead of just ignoring it.

I do agree with the poster that said to give them a break because they are new to this. With the exception of any seasoned activists from the 1960s, everyone participating in this movement is basically a virginal protestor. Learning to work with the media is a part of it all.

You could always join up with the Occupy Asheville group. I'm going there this weekend to camp out. From what I've heard, Asheville is establishing a pretty large presence.

The hypocrisy spewing from President Obama's mouth and Hillary Clinton's mouth is nauseating.

In Boston, early on Oct. 11th, Urszula Masny-Latos, executive director of the National Lawyers Guild’s Northeast regional office, reports:

“They really attacked,’’ Masny-Latos said of police. “They used force that was completely unnecessary. … It was just brutal. I have no idea why they arrested us with such force.’’

To her shock, Masny-Latos herself was among those arrested. She said Boston police usually respect the legal observers the guild routinely dispatches to public protests.

However, even though she was wearing a green hat with the words, “legal observer’’ clearly visible, Masny-Latos said, she was the second person arrested by police.

“It was very surprising,’’ she said of being arrested. “Boston police usually respect our legal observers. And they usually leave us alone. … I was legal observing. I wasn’t even chanting anything.’’

“Four officers grabbed me and dragged me,’’ she said. “I begged them to stop, [told them that that] they were hurting me. I have no idea why they arrested us with such force.’’
