I can understand what with all the pain and suffering people go through that they would turn to Christianity, but personally it doesn't really answer the questions to which I am seeking answers.I like to be free to think my own thoughts and not be tied down with doctrine and dogma.
I tell them that I identify as Hindu. They laugh out of disbelief and I stare at them blanky. No one ever believes me. That or most people find Hinduism funny?
This is true. One time a couple of Jehovah's Witnesses came to my door. I invited them in and tried to convert them to Buddhism. They left pretty fast. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No what, exactly? No that I bless Charles Manson (PBUH)? It's true, I do. I don't do it in sarcasm or mockery. So, you've traveled the I Am path? Just want to make sure I understand you.
Hate is a strong word there. All I said is I find it annoying and boring to be harassed by people trying to push Christianity, or their own particular idea of it in an intrusive manner.
Probably most Christians who go out to convert know very little about Hinduism. It's mainly something to do with satan as far as they are concerned.
I didn't mean you personally. I mean people in general, and it happens constantly and everywhere. I think something like that is more of a problem than missionaries .. if you understand.
"their not going to see it or acknowledge it"....^ How would you know what anyone else is going to do? Speak for your own self.
If you mean militant atheists, they are just as boringly predictable as the missionaries. Entrenched dogma on both sides.
I am path?.. you mean iman? , no i just live. to difficult to explain. secular muslims dont give a shit. fundamentalist are fucked in the head.
edited in the interest of peace. If people get email notifications, then they'll have a copy of this post that I edited.
No. I don't mean iman. You wrote "I really is lam", which I read as I am. So are you saying you're Muslim and that's what lam means?
I tell them I am a good Christian, I praise the Lord 9 times a day and I do not perform satanic acts like murder and premarital sex. We usually have a chitchat about Heaven, certain bible passages and our favorite Gregorian songs (mine is Dies Irae in case you wonder). Love, bird.
I've never actually been asked this by a stranger but most people around here are Christians so they probably assume since I'm a nice person I must therefore be a Christian. I do get a lot of people who start talking about God and Jesus as if they assume I'm on the same page. I usually just nod and keep my mouth shut when this happens.
I think my jewelry makes it pretty apparent that I'm not a Christian. And I don't think I've ever been asked that randomly.
I didn't say they were forcing anything on me. I walked away before she tried to do that. I just added that as a side note after I said spirituality/religion is something you seek for yourself and explore on your own, it's personal. That being said, I don't want any pamphlets. I can go to the library or go online or even visit a church all on my own if I want to learn more about any religion. That's exactly the way I view pushy religious people that solicit strangers. They're like sales people. I don't appreciate sales people nor pushy religious people. If someone is asking me a question like "Are you christian?" I know exactly what's coming next, the sales pitch. She's going to try to sale religion to me. Also, wanted to point out that my intention of this thread wasn't to start a religious debate or any arguments, but I figured it's probably bound to happen... I do respect religion in that people have the right to do whatever they want, I just don't want anyone to try to coax me into believing whatever they believe. I have a mind of my own. I can think for myself. I'm also not trying to mock anyone. I just thought my response to the person was kind of funny and wanted to share because I share most of my thoughts here on hip. I don't really have anyone to share them with in real life. I'm going to try this one next time.
