people seem to clasp on musical artists that die within their prime. if hendrix was still alive, or died much later, say 15-20 years later, started to record some mediocre music, and started to show signs of age from booze and drugs, I dont think any of you people would claim he was the greatest to ever grace the stage.
Yeah, crappie. That would be sad. But since he died on the rise, there just isn't any way of knowing. He could just as easily have broken more ground, taken the electronic gizmos and found ways to use them that no one to date has. What's yur point?
prince has watered down over the years..... how could it be the same?? prince didnt die when he was 27 (while he was on the rise)
he could have also thrown synthesizers into the mix as well, jumped the 80s bandwagon, in later years, could have gotten fat and played shows at the copabana with an elaborate horn section
I could imagine Hendrix doing some pretty awful stuff if he were alive today, or in the 80's actually. EDIT: Damnit Crappie, beat me by a minute
Why the 80s he still had most of the 70s in front of him before he die. He die in 1970 he had a whole decade to go before the 80s.
most artists from the 60s and 70s had a rough time during the 80s (jumping the whole mtv revolution with synthesizers and cheesy crap) look at eric clapton for example. he colaborated with daryl hall of all people. yes, moody blues, pink floyd, genesis, the who, etc etc and should I even mention the offshoot band of the former jefferson airplane in '86 with "we built this city"???
because of the trends in the 80's...I could see him getting an electric drummer, playing those hexagon shaped drums....or maybe he would have glammed out and done some pop-metal... Same could be said of the 70's,90's, or now though ..he could have done a disco flavored song, or a duet with Staind, maybe some hip hop type stuff...with Limp Bizkit
Theres was not much in the 80s mainly single hits or a few band with maybe 3 or 4 songs. and the better 80s band were carry over bands, form in the late 70s. stix ,Rush etc.
Oh man, i could see the keytar thing By now he would have probably done a back to basics unplugged blues album.
