quote: between 1978 and 1980 the only exiciting band was Van Halen and it was short lived. i strongly disagree, I think there were many good bands around that time
i saw 2x Black Sabbath, 2x alice cooper , Emerson Lake & Palmer, Quick Silver Messanger Service with the Chambers Bother, Ted Nugent and the amboy Dukes, J- Tull, Chuck Berry . this was between 1972 and 1973 . and a few more my brain dont seem to recall right now.
BROWNSVILLE STATION = "Smoking in the boys room" but it was not a great concert that was theyr only big hit.
I think we have different musical tastes spliff. I was thinking more like Television, Richard Hell, X, The Cure, Joy Division etc. I like Black Sabbath etc too.
is not about taste is the fact i was a young teen in the early 70s. how the hell you think i went to those concerts.
not sure what you are talking about, when did I question your age? I was mentioning that since you thought the only good stuff in the late 70's was Rush and Van halen, that we have different musical tastes.
and by the way the only concert i did trip on acid was Quick Silver Messanger Service with the Chambers Brothers . it was orange sunshine . The summer of 1972 during school summer vacation.
no those were the few bands worth going to see along with some of the rising metal bands but i was not to much into metal . i left some huge gaps since i was so spoil with early 70s and mid late 60s music.
For example the Eagles was a mid 70s band . joe walsh was still kicking some good sounds . Robin Trower etc.
It's good to see people discussing stuff without getting nasty like on Gathering Of The Vibes. I had just watched Prince do Whole Lotta Love and it was unfuckingbelievable, that's what brought to mind my original post.
I feel that Prince is a better songwriter than Jimi. As far as playing guitar Jimi blows Prince away along with alot of other people.
