it doesnt have to be technicaly organic but as natural as can be is best
you dont want aloyya chemical crap and espoecialy residues
shower gels almost all are very residue heavy and whenever i washed with 1 kleft me feeling sticky (but smelling nice)
i wouldnt use em in dreadsespecialy new dreads
i recomend bronners but diluted alot
or the deep cleanse buyt that can soften hair too much
so dfont do it alot till theyre setttled in

no u cant overwash but you'll find that once a week or twice is all youi really need and as they get long it becomes a chore to wash so once a week will be allk that you'll wanna be bothered with washing em
as it is with mine i usualy set aside a whole day especialy in winter..takes a good 15 min just to get em wet enough to wash then 15-20 to wash and another 15-20 to rince thouroghuly then 38 or more hours to dry completely so u can see why i dont bother washijn more then onvce a week

they will dread more after u wash em so every few days isnt a bad thing but id giveem a few days between washings to let new knots settle in a bit

    sunshine
u maybe surprised how quickly bedhead can turn into dreadhead
not for everyone ofcourse some take months and months even up to a year but some can start formin dreads in just a couple weeeks

totaluy ignore the passage of time.. forget all about your hair awhile
and 1 day you'll be walkin down the street and some1 will call out hey dread and u will be lookin around to see who theyre talkin to only to find its you...

That's awesome Eagle. :) Can't wait to be dreaded. This is like the one time in my life when i love the nest on my head. My husband doesn't even mind it. I can't wait to see the different stages & see it progress.

okay thanks for the tips. To be honest the specialist shampoo seems expensive, so i may go for a mixture of baking soda and water or something simple, cleans and leaves no residue. Got to be the same really.

four months and it's still not knotted? If that were me, by that time I'd start back combing at least.

what r u washing with dazed?
also if u think bronners is expensive remnember that u dilute it 12-1 so it goes 12 times as far as youd think...1 bottle can last months

I suppose, but when you consider people can change to washing with just water, or water and baking soda, i often wonder how effective dread shampoo compares. I mean no offence to it, I'd just probably have to import it over seas, etc. It begins to strike me as a lot of hassle when i can mix some up at home.

bronnbers isnt a "dread shsampoo" its a all around soap usuable for just about anything from laundry to floors and dishes even toothpaste
u can most likely find it localy too
and since its super concentrated a 36 oz bottle makes like 420 oz's of shampoo
when 1 bottle of soap can replace 20 different cleanning products and be stretched 12-20 times by diluting it becomes extremely cheap
plus..its the safest soap out there for the environment so if u go camping at all its the onluy soap id ever use in the woods

I use dr.bronners camping. Because youdon't have to worry about using it at least 100metres away from water.

when u wash u dont wash the hair just the scalp use fingertips to scrub and scarape the scalp clean then rince the soap thru the dreads so your not actualy massaging anythimng thrupiugh the hair your fingers are scrubbing the scalp between dreasds and under roots

I've recently started using Dr. Bronner's, before that I was using the Knotty Boy shampoo bar, this really didnt get my hair clean. I think this really hindered the process, plus my hair is still pretty short which Im sure doesnt help

well dr b put about the most thought and conceisness into developping it
alotta other soaps and crap instread of trying to make whats pourests and best for u and the encvironment instead they smear alotta chemicals in thge eyes oif a few rabits to see which dont make em go blind then rest to see if they dont make your hair fall out..1/2 the crapo they put in em they might put in em only because theyre codt efgfective like they get paid to help get rid of industrial wastes by puttin em in a product
then as long as it cant be proven to significantly increase your cancer risks (20% or more) then it goes to market
very very few corporsationsds have much conceisness about what they do to cinsumers
at least dr b makes the purest healthiest and safest products he can
and they woek damn good too

it may be hard to believe, but hair WILL lock up no matter what. but it is a long process and requires patience.

it really is. just wash it and don't comb it, seperate if you want. you can just wash the scalp with your fingers and the soap will run down the dreads. as long as you're not pulling your fingers through it.
