Some of Conway Twitty's and Loretta Lynn's duets together are beautiful. Same goes for Geogre Jones and Tammy Wynette. I have this really awesome compilation called "Dylan Country" It's country artists doing Dylan cover. It inculdes Ear Scruggs-Nashville Skyline Rag, Waylon Jennings-Don't Think Twice, Johnny Cash- It ain't me babe (with marachi horns), a young Hank Williams Jr singing "I'll be your baby tonight", Jerry Jeff Walker "One Too Many Mornings" (which exceeds Dylan's original, Jerry's voice is very similar to DYlan's cept more raspy less nasally.)
loretta lynn..... now that's a great lady of old-time country.... i'm a big fan of dolly parton too..... better not forget the ladies when you think of old-time country.....and one of the greatest ever was....patsy cline....my grandfather is a HUGE patsy cline fan...and he instilled her music in me.....
Man where were you when I was a young black kid trying to find some real music. If i had that list it would have saved me from hearing some crappy records.
Haha, thanks man. My sister was the primary influence on my musical taste. Maybe that explains why everyone thinks i ama child progidy. I was singing the words to Yes songs at age 5 and rocking out to Waylon Jennings by 7.
Honky Tonk-do you know who did the original "Ragged but Right?" I heard it a few times, sounded like it was from the 30's...I've tried to find the version I've heard, but have only found a bunch of other ones that i don't like as much
Riley Puckitt is his name i believe. It dates back to 1934 and is a traditional song (i.e. It's original writer has been forgotten by time). I hope it's what you're looking for.
