Ill be walking down the street, minding my own business, wearing mah tight pants that have holes and are slightly ripped.. and just like a t shirt, and ill get yuppie parents staring at me all the time, giving me the evil eye... *shiver* God forbid you wear clothes that are slightly dirty/ripped... thats not what a proper christian/american would wear!! They'd wear expensive clothing made by children in third world countries, that's what a real "proper" person would wear.

With me looking like that, one might think I'de be one of those Immoral atheist people... or one of those dirty dope addicts... yuppies almost have an obligation than to tell me that I'm wrong for not giving my money to help enslave children.

    Gr.

Its because 7 year old children shouldnt be forced to make clothes in a sweatshop 15 hours a day making next to nothing and get beat by their "boss".

Not really that hard to understand, really.

take all of my extra ramblings and ideas out of my posts and you are left with "Old navy is evil because they use child labor"
and there is not much argument against that, what it boils down to is the person giving a fuck about it...and especially in america we can count on the majority of people not really caring about the wellbeing of anyone... hell, that's what makes us American.

Fuck the world, im a happy consumer.

i do have to agree that it is a little annoying to see a trend coming around that you've been wearing since you were born. but, im not one to judge someone just because they wear whats in. judging people by what they wear is complete bullshit.

but then if you think about it, shouldnt you feel flattered that they think that your style is cool and they want to mainstream it?

so either way i really dont care, let people wear what they want.

old navy isnt a style its a brand name. It's always been mainstream... and its not what you wear, its the fact it was made by children.

and your point? they apparently are mainstreaming this style, ive never shopped at old navy or even seen what they have so i wouldnt know. if your going to argue about sweat shops i agree that it is wrong. but if your pissed off about the bohemian style coming around again, then thats bullshit. let people wear what they want.

I never looked into manufacturing of the clothes at Old Navy. I am ALWAYS happy when the mainstream fashion people decide that "bohemian" is gonna be *hip* for a season because i am REALLY tall AND fat and have a bitch of a time finding anything to wear and i can't sew for shit. Thrift stores are super cool if you are *regular* size (which i'm not.. i wear a size 22 and if i want jeans i need 36" inseams!). I know the store type bohemian style is watered down but that's how it is. If any of the gifted mama's here want to sew for me for near the price of an Old Navy clearance price i would be MORE than happy to go for it... but that shit is CHEAP on clearance!
I will have to rethink this though... i don't want sweat-shop kid's sweat on my clothes. Ha... for real though, i don't want to support that crap :(

here's a thought, i am certainly not for sweatshops, but this problem goes far beyond banana republic, gap and old navy. even if you buy your own fabric and make your own clothes, where does that fabric come from? someone is manufacturing it...unless it is made in the USA, it could very well be from a sweatshop. and buying from thrift stores is great, a lot of the proceeds go to good organizations and charities, but those clothes were most likely, at some point, made in a sweatshop.

i don't want to fight anyone, just some things to think about, old navy can't be blamed for the downfall of our society, not just yet at least.

and on the topic of bohemian chic, it has pretty much come around every summer for the last 3 or 4 years, pretty much every summer some aspect of bohemian chic is featured in the fashions...its inevitable. remember a few years ago when peasant blouses were huge? last season a lot of hippie inspired jewelry was popular...but i honestly do not think that anyone is confusing a dready hippie wearing hand-made clothes with a 15 year old girl in an old navy skirt carrying a louis vuitton bag from last season...i think the majority of society gets it, they know what is purchased as a trend and they can recognize those people that truly live the lifestyle, so you don't have anything to worry about...

and remember imitation is the highest form of flattery...

you guys probably won't buy that line though...

    i'm done now, happy shopping!

I don't understand the problem with them selling a certain style of clothing. If you don't want to buy your clothes there, don't.
