I just got back into it, fitzy. So I've been slacking for about a year, then this was our third chest/tri session and I was noticeably weaker than the last one, six days before. This was true for my brother as well, and this is his first time ever lifting weights. I had been concerned that our protein intake wasn't what it should have been, especially with our scrawny genetics. TCF, all vitamins are definitely not the same. Do a bit of online research to find the best one. Suffice to say, what you get in the supermarkets are usually shit, whereas proper health stores tend to have a good range of mid to high quality vitamins. I'll find a torrent for a bodyweight exercises video for you if you want. No gym needed, although it is definitely better to have weights for resistance, long term.
They may have the same vitamins, but they won't have the same amount. Also, the source of the vitamins is likely shittier in the cheaper ones, which would affect the quality of the vits as well as absorption, etc.
Might that be why they made me puke the first couple of times? Cause I mean it was almost instant. I ate the vitamin and within 20 minutes I was upchucking.
there is much more to a vitamin than the profile on the bottle - like the source quality of ingredients, the bioavailibity of ingredients, completeness, etc... you get what ya pay for
It can be. Not everything they would push on you is strictly necessary, but the basics like vitamins, proteins and creatine certainly help you get where you want to be quicker. Sure, that might be why. Obviously if you start chucking just after eating something, that's the likely culprit. But it could be because of loads of different reasons, maybe it was too foreign to your body, maybe what you'd eaten that day didn't work with the vits, etc, etc.. speculation. As long as they stay down now, and you're feeling better, then they're doing their job. But if you bought el cheapo de cheapoes, consider investing in something a little more high end next time. I'd recommend going to a health store, ask the nice people working there, and then do some research on their recommendations. Also have a look to see if you can buy the products cheaper on the web.
I saw a consumer guide study a few years ago that tested differant brands of vitimins/minerals to determine the accuracy of the stated contents of each. Some were way short of what was listed, but I do remember Centrum was on the money. There were others as well, but I can't remember them.(hmmm-maybe I better double up).
your better option is to get most of your vitamins and minerals from actual food before even thinking of supplementing it. even if you do get quality supplements, if you're food intake is shit, then you'll be pissing money out
I forgot to take my vitamins last night. I take prenatals and Omega 3. I shouldnt forget, specially not now that I've been sick for the past 3 days and I have been barely eating.
What he's saying is try and ensure you get all the nutrients you need from your diet, first and foremost, and supplement with the supplements. I agree, focus on your diet before anything else; varied meats, veg, fruit, etc, but the simple fact is, it is highly unlikely you can cover all your needs through regular diet alone. Similarly, though, you don't want to do what some people do, and get all your nutrition from mass gainers, protein shakes, and various pills. So, a nice rich diet supplemented by multivitamins and whatever else you feel you don't get enough of from regular food.
