cheap vitamins like centrum and one-a-day don't have as much vitamin content as other brands available at health foods that are somewhat more expensive, yet a lot more worthwhile imo.

i take a loaded multivitamin because i follow a vegetarian diet a lot of the time, and (especially since i am traveling) really don't want to get sick. i find if i stick to my vitamins and eat yogurt every now and then i'm pretty much immune to viruses.

i get like 1500% DV of vitamin C and tons of B vitamins. pee bright yellow.

I have vitamins - but I always forget to take them... ;-( My vitamin bottle seems to be doing well on the other hand...

In my (rather extensive) experience, probably the best brand of vitamins/minerals you can buy is Nature's Sunshine.. most of them are in amino acid chelate form, which is very bioavailable, one tablet usually has up to 1000% RDA (the RDA is nowhere near what most people need, it's a bare minimum to stay upright).

Get Super Supplemental Vits&Mins, I can guarantee you'll know where the extra money went ;)

nature's sunshine is great! last multi i had was from them. my parents always had a lot of their stuff.

and yeah, that's the problem i have with those cheap multis they cell at walgreens. there are hardly any vitamins in there at all. the multi i take right now is a once per day deal, it's something of a horse pill but it's GREAT, and i don't have to take 6 caps to get the vitamins and minerals i need.

Haha, Zilla, I'm impressed. I can't take more than 400% vitamin C because it makes my kidneys hurt like a motherfucker. It's weird.

It would be, but I don't currently have as stove, and I've yet to find breakfast that can be cooked on the grill.

One step at a time, my friend. One step at a time.

    Jimmy/Fitzy-

I do eat plenty of healthy foods though. Lots of high protein foods, and lots of fruits and vegetables throughout the day.

I've also tried to start eating 5-6 meals a day instead of just 3, and I've been trying to increase the size of those meals too.

So you're saying I'll be able to notice a big difference in how I feel by buying better vit's? Cause I wont spend the extra just to be healthier, but if it would make me feel better, I'd do it.

It actually will - if you're absorbing say 90% of the stuff as opposed to 40% with your current vitamins, there's gonna be a difference ;)

Well, I've got two bottles left of the cheap ones since they were on sale, and after that, I'll try some better ones.

I'm guessing after this convo that I can assume that protein powder that comes from the store is garbage too? (which sucks because it's a much friendlier price)

There's some value to taking a multi-vitamin, but the human body can only absorb so much. What you're buying are the ingredients for very expensive urine.

I know what you say about absorbtion is true, but they're enough of a difference to make me notice and for a few dollars a month, at least I'm not pissing money on cigs. ;)

Of course they can. Just like veggies sitting in the fridge are losing vitamins constantly until you eat them.

Check your vitamin bottle for a date.

I thought that was because they were biologically breaking down and deteriorating. I figured since it was crammed into a convenient little pill that they solved that problem?

Nothing lasts forever. Anyway, since you are supposed to be taking them every day, you should be done way before they are toast.

What store? The supermarket? Yeah, probably. You should be able to get high quality protein for a reasonable price in the US, though. Go to a health store, see what's available, then research those options online, quality as well as price. It could also be worthwhile to research the stuff you can buy in the supermarket online, it might be shit, it might not.
