This is one of those times when it's important for everyone to contact their members of the House and Senate to demand action.

Then how did we get the gun regulations that we currently have? Civil rights legislation? Environmental protections? You're forgetting your history.

Yeah that's history... Not current events. Politics don't work that way anymore. "We The People" have been tossed under the bus and charged for damages.

It’s not exactly back and forth - it’s basically linear with a full stop. You make a statement or present an argument it’s countered by criticism that seems to deeply undermine it, then you seemingly unable to address the criticism make an excuse for not continuing.

If it were a football match it would be your side making a play our side countering it then you picking up the ball and with your team walking off the pitch.

I very strongly disagree it’s very important what people say and I take a lot of notice of what you say but I also note what you don’t say – and the things you seem unable to say are anything that counters the many criticisms of your views.

Then put up something that is a rational and reasonable counter argument rather than running away and making dishonest excuses for doing so.

Again you pick up the ball and run off the pitch hardly before the game is even started. Shouldn’t you be asking yourself why you seem unable to defend your ideas from criticism?

Thing is that mass shooting like Orlando grab the attention but little tragedies are going on every day in the US because of the ease of access to guns, little arguments sometimes over trivial matter or accidents brought on by carelessness or irresponsible actions due to drink can turn so quickly into tragedy when guns are added to the equation -

I heard someone approaching my bed in the middle of the night, so I grabbed my gun and fired. It was my daughter. She’s dead now.

I was watching the Eagles game with my buddies and we got into an argument about football, so I shot three of them

My boyfriend didn’t want to spend Christmas with my mom, so I shot him

I got into an argument at a family gathering, so I started blasting away in a blind rage. I shot two little kids playing with Christmas presents.

My waitress asked me not to smoke in the restaurant, so I shot her dead.

A car pulled into the parking lot of my apartment complex while the driver consulted the GPS. The headlights were right in my face, so I shot nine times at the car, hitting the six year old in the back seat.

My son was arguing with me about biscuits and gravy, so I shot him dead.

Remember Orlando’s and Sandy Hook’s and the other mass shootings but also give a thought for all the other little tragedies due to lax gun control.

If you have a point can you please make it not just post pointless and rather asinine video clips of 24

I’ve wonder for years why so many Americans seem to oppose prudent gun control measures and I’m coming to the conclusion from talking to them here that they’re not actually quite sure themselves, they seem unable to articulate their argument in any clear and lucid manner it seems more about feelings based often on myth and driven by fears.

I would just hope that the majority of Americans that support prudent gun control would start to make their voices heard - like this mother -

I do have a point to make. However, if you just delete my posts because you don't like them then forget about it.

I didn’t like that post because it didn’t make any sense, a couple of random clips from 24 with no explanation, they seemed pointless but please if you have a point explain it - using words – I’d really like to know

OK i've unhidden it now - explain your point

When I read your post with the list of random useless fatal shootings this is what came to my mind: once you fire that bullet you can't take it back.

In my opinion most people aren't capable of really wielding guns. They are just amateurs who took some course on gun safety.

I remember this thing from basic training: we were shooting rifles at the range and the guy beside me had a stoppage. So he turns to the sergeant - him AND the rifle - for help. The next thing you know the guy is lying on his back .... the sergeant knocked him out cold. That is how you teach gun safety.

Thank you Ghost but that wasn't clear from posting a couple of clips of 24, i think the point was better explained by your own words and so I've hidden the random clips again.

    With Regards

That is the other side .... everybody has a gun. So when they snap they just start shooting. Guns are easy. Just pull the trigger.

Although I would say that domestic violence is a different thing on the whole. If they want to do it, they'll do it. Houses are full of knives. Guns just make it easier.

But look at the second part of the story: the second person killed was a rookie cop. Not so easy wielding guns, is it?

In any case the whole point is moot and so is the discussion on gun laws, the second amendment and all the other yada. Most people already have guns and every time something happens the sales soar. Everybody wants to be a hero. Until they're dead.

The Democratic sit-in in the House chamber is over until July 5, because there is no further activity on the schedule before then.

The Senate is going to try again on gun control today, voting on two bills that have been modified through negotiation between the parties.

You mean to ignore due process? An American is placed on a list indefinitely, never charged and you actually want that person stripped of his/her rights because the Gov. deems them a threat, without having to prove it. That's not what you're applauding, is it? Nothing on the books, nothing, would have stopped this shooting, or any other. What you want it to give the Gov. power to place ANYONE they want to on a list, but don't seem to realize the implications. What if a far-right fire and brimstone neocon takes the oval office and decides to have his/her admin. place abortionists on a list, how would you feel about due process then? Assuming you're pro-choice.

Women in the United States are 11 times more likely to be murdered with guns than women in other high-income countries. The presence of a firearm during a domestic violence incident increases the likelihood of a homicide by 500 percent.

There should have always been a way to challenge being on that list. Not being able to use commercial airlines is a huge problem for some people. As far as I know, all the bills that have been under consideration recently include some kind of appeal process. Remember, the old list and its associated rules were set up by Bush and Cheney, hardly fans of individual freedom.

Yeah, that's why the US and Australia have similar numbers of mass shootings. Or do they?

23+ million vs 318+ million. Brilliant.
