The bar was just an example , the 12 guage at the cash reg is not loaded , there is a sawed off 12 guage in the back office . The lady that keeps the books knows how to use it . A shot gun under reg. lenth is illegal in most places , but it does make a good weppon . Before in my US state of Arizona to carry concealed gun you had to get a c.c.w. permit . You took a class , learned the laws , learned how to shoot , ect. now you can carry a concelaed gun in the state with out the c.c.w. desert rat

Yeah, the guy is a real prick with an opinion. Unfortunately, this country is full of real pricks with opinions. However, there's no chance he will have any influence on the 2nd amendment,so ignore the prick.

England is gun free, so I have no idea what it is like living in a country where guns are legally obtained. But on the note of statistics, London has the highest rate of knife crime in the UK, being a resident of London I have 1 in 1100 chance of falling victim to a knife crime/attack. It is very common here and I have (indirectly) known people that have died due to the high rate of knife crime we see, the headline in my local newspaper two days before christmas was 'mum stabbed to death in her flat', and being that I live in a low-class, overpopulated area, I am personally at more risk of being victim. Now, to me, the reason we have so much knife crime specifically is because the attackers know that when they enter 'mums flat' that she isn't going to have any protection, such as a gun. I dont like guns because I generally don't like violence or weapons, but it is a scary thought knowing that anyone could burst through your door and stab you, and you would have no protection. I have seen too many people hurt/dead from vicious knife/axe/even fire extinguisher attacks.

I have seen a gun once, it was one of the scarlest momemts of my life, not so much because it was a gun, but because it was a gun with intentions, illegally obtained with intention to most likely kill.

I'd like to see these statistics Pressed_Rat is talking about, tbh.
I would have thought there is more gun crime in cities because of the nature of cities: heavily populated, deprived areas and more likelihood of gangs.

I would expect there to be more gun/knife crime In London than Leicester - yet we have exactly the same laws on gun/knife ownership.

To Mama Peace , some women around hear will carry a bottel of pepper spray or mace with them . They make a key chain model . 4 of many sites I got from a search http://www.safetygirl.com/pepperspray.html?gclid=CK7YhInKxbQCFeuPPAodPnwAAQ http://www.mace.com/ http://www.guardian-self-defense.co...category.htm?gclid=CKmtmJrKxbQCFSWoPAoddj4ATQ http://www.defuserdefense.com/ Some will carry a tazzer also , they shock people . http://store.taser.com/taser-c2-p116.aspx?gclid=COn25sTLxbQCFYKPPAodPTYASQ I dont know if a tazzer would be shipped out side the USA , or if they would be legal . desert rat
p.s. mace and a tazzer dont kill ,just burn the eyes , or shock an attacker

I fear that one day someone will break into my home and shoot me dead on the spot. I wouldn't be as scared of an intruder with a knife. At least then I would have a chance to possibly run away or use pepper spray to defend myself. With a gun you're basically screwed unless you have a gun and can shoot faster and aim better than the other guy.

I haven't really decide my stance on gun control. I don't think banning all guns is the answer, mainly because I support hunting and being able to kill your own food. I think it's probably more of a cultural issue than a legal one. The united states has a violent, gun obsessed culture.

Instead of some stranger firing little projectiles into my body that would make it very difficult for me to continue to function, I will fire little projectiles at his body hoping to make it difficult for him to continue to function. Pre-turnabout is fair play.

Didn't always feel this way. During the process of expanding spirituality via windowpane in the 60s, my feeling was whatever happens is/was supposed to happen and all was right.

Then I had kids and grand kids. Some of you will understand.

    Off topic=sorry.

    I hate this man..,
but hes right! if people didn't have guns, then there wouldn't be any shootings!
a few years back, a 6 year old girl was shot dead in her school... IN AMERICA.
crimes like this don't happen where there isn't guns.
I don't know one person, apart from farmers in the area that I live in that has a gun.

I mean yeah, he pisses me off. The more I think about it, the more it does. What really gets me though, is who he replaced. Larry king is five hundred times the man/correspondent that Morgan is or will ever be.

    I miss him

I'm not anti-gun but I've not seen any statistics that support this...:smoking:
In fact violent crime has been decreasing steadily right along with decreasing ownership of guns among households.

tonight he interviews some of the policemen who went into Sandy Hook school, & saw the bodies of those little children.. he's against people owning assault weapons designed to be used by soldiers fighting wars.. so easy to get into the hands of people with mental health problems..

So then I guess there's not a lot of gun owners in Tennessee and South Carolina?
... if that's where the most victims are, per capita....
