Led Zeppelin..I got through periods when I can't get enough of Zeppelin(except Stairway to Heaven..utter crap!..)Then there are periods where if I even hear one bar or note sung by Robert Plant, I scream! I own a record/CD store and the one thing you always gotta have in stock....Led Zeppelin..every generation wants Zeppelin.

I was amazed to see how many people listed The Doors and Jim Morrison as that was my first thought and was waiting to get bashed. My fav band for so many years then one day I felt I have really been duped by these guys and somehow believed they were that good. Now they seem pretentious and funny at best to me but it's all opinion don't wanna insult any Doors fans as I was one of them for many years. But most bands seem over rated to me unless they are underated lol
and for the most part I think it applies to most music today

I gotta agree with junkhead about all "classic rock" being overated. I also agree about Nirvana and Kurt Cobain being overated as i never did like there music at all, in fact i didnt listen to rock when it was in the "grunge" faze.

I don't think U2 are really overrated, at least not with rock n' roll fans. I have visited many music forums and lots of people hate U2 there. It far surpasses those who like them.

However, I love them. I think soulrebel is right in a way, that they have kinda lost their plot from what they started out to do, but I went to see them in Cardiff, and they still put on a hell of a show.

I do like their 80's music so much better than their 90's era stuff. Albums like The Joshua Tree, October, War etc. are amazing in my opinion :)

Kurt Cobain was partly overrated. a lot of Nirvana "fans" simply love him because its cool too, but once you get past that and the fact that he wasn't much of a guitarist, he did write some of the most original and creative pop songs of all time.

^And you're a narrow minded idiot... just because you don't like U2 doesn't make them "telentless assholes".

Even if you dislike their music, you can hardly deny they have talent. Listen to The Joshua Tree and tell me it doesn't have talent. It does.

I think that most indie/emo/punk bands are over rated. Plus U2, Nirvana, and Greenday.

the thing with nirvana though, is yes they are over-rated by the media and what not, but one cannot dent the feeling and real-ness of their music. but thats you and you are different than me so...

There music was very true and real, indeed. That's why I have a lot of respect for them, although I think their music is overrated, in the way that they haven't written so many good songs as some people say. (in my modest opinion, of course;)) The thing that bothers me is that the media hypes them for the wrong reasons, especially after Kurt's death.
