Overused chord progression

I find a lot of songs based on what I call the Bobby Brown progression - namely a chord and then a chord that's the previous one flattened played with a 9th and 13th note in it - think "My perogative" - boring and silly. I mean, one synth part in My perogative is like C C C C C C B B B B B B C C C C C C B---------
