well yeah, a lot of franchisees (most maybe?) have a lot more than one or two stores, and thus have the potential for greater profits. but the person i was responding to specifically said "a couple" which literally means two and even if taken loosely couldn't mean more than 3 or 4 at the most.
Indydude...... Have you been to the swimming hole in Anchorage? That Rock quarry where the Louisville Dive Team meets.....where they're now charging 8 bucks for a swim? It's a cool spot. Heard it was better back in the day.
I actually wondered if I should be more specific when I said a couple. Should have said a few. Anyway. Papa Johns has 100's or 1000's of franchises that go for 100k for the name and then he makes money from each franchise yearly for advertising and selling ingredients. That $750k cant be near close to what he makes. He probably put that figure in Wiki.
Nope but i used to trip and explore the old Central State hospital there. Perfectly good insane asylum sitting empty because of asbestos in the tiles. They left file cabinets full of old treatment records. We'd sneak in at night with flashlights and trippin our asses read the psychiatric reports.
Ummm.... Central State Hospital is still up and running. I lived across the street from the place a few years back. Around 2007-2008. I used to wear weird costumes and fly kites in their field to fuck with the patients. Built a campfire in their parking lot one time on acid. Edit: just read that they tore down the original building in the 80s and built the one I know of on the same grounds.
:2thumbsup: WHAT!!!!! Dude I swear that place ws empty for years in the early 90's. THere used to be one or two little houses across the street where we'd park and walk to the front doors. THis is freakin weird! Cool, had me freakin out there for a second. I've been known to get stuck in a time warp and have to astral plane back.:2thumbsup:
Well don't put the plane in the hangar yet, if you were there in the 90s the old building had already been torn down. The new building has been operational since 86. Sorry for the derailment folks. But is a really cool place thats not far from Johns house that's been plastered all over this thread.
Most of what you envy as his wealth is the value of the 6+ million shares of stock that he owns, and over the last year have varied between $35.89 and $56.41 per share. I believe multi-billionaire Steve Jobs was only paid a salary of $1 per year, and one of the worlds wealthiest billionaires, Warren Buffett receives a salary of only $100,000 per year. Having a net worth of $46 billion is the equivalent of saving 460,000 years of his salary. In the last year Tom Cruise earned $75 million, Leonardo DiCaprio and Adam Sandler $37 million each, just to name a few, and how many people do they employ? From what I've read, the corporate owned Papa Johns full time employees ARE provided health insurance, and the franchise owned are free to set the wage and benefit packages for themselves and their employees.
I dunno maybe I'm just stupid. But I honestly don't understand why people in your own country don't want to help other people get some basic type of health cover for everybody there.
i know im late on the whole costco papa johns comparison but i was at work when i saw it and didnt have enough time to post all my thoughts on my phone. first off it is a horrible comparison. papa johns has way more competition. in pizza alone he has to deal with dominos, pizza hut, other regional chains, and the mom and pop resteraunts, then nobody eats pizza every day so people will have the choice of other quick places like McDonalds, burger king, wendys, arbys, kfc, taco bell, and other regional fast food places. then people might be in the mood for a full meal so then there is the tgiFridays and applebees, ruby tuesdays, other regional chains like that. then the mom and pop places. i see you get my point now but i will add just one more...even costco sells pizza and some of them sell whole cooked pies just like you would get at papa johns. the only thing papa johns sells is plain old pizza and a handful of side dishes. so papa john cant compete with variety so he has to compete some other way and that is making the best and cheapest pizza he can. the question shouldnt be who would you rather work for but who would you rather be a customer for, because thats who pays the bills and gives him that big house. unfortunately i cant say because i never had papa johns pizza or costcos pizza, i prefer putting a digiorno's pizza on my pizzaz pizza oven and its as good as any pizza i ever had except for a handful of mom and pop pizzas. (oh yeah if that isnt one other competitor against papa johns. now on the other side if you need a tv and you are a costco member how much competition is there? wally world, best buy, regional chains, mom and pop electronics stores, and online (where you take great risks for using unreliable sites) but correct me if i am wrong but there is much less competition there so more people are likely to go to costco, giving them more revenue and more money to spread to their employees. there is a second part to this post but i said enough for now.
its so funny how everyone with a different idea than there own is brainwashed, you can easily say that anyone with those beliefs is a jealous brainwashed Australian.
Because businesses have already proven their bottom line is employee satisfaction and will gladly pay their employees a fair wage without government regulation? nope. Not to mention minimum wage is hardly a livable wage. People who make minimum wage are often the people using government programs like food stamps and stiffing the ER their bill because they can't afford insurance or healthcare. It's not exactly overpaying and anyone with basic math skills should be able to figure that out.
Oh quit whining, anybody who WANTS to succeed in america can, by working 70 hours a week with no benefits and no retirement. Because as individual says, if it's not exactly the job you want, you'll just leave, nobody's making you work so that you can eat and pay your heat bill:daisy:
I have worked 112 hours and more a week for over a year straight without a single day off once in my life and that did lead to providing me with much of the success that followed. And yes, you're absolutely correct, nobody's making you work so that you can eat, pay your heat bill, or any other bills, so if you really feel a need for those things, a reasonable and rational person would most likely get out and find a job without need of being forced to do so. Where does this belief that government or society owes you a living come from?
