Yeah, you fucked your health and everything else for a buck. But this should not be necessary. And what did you get for it? You're another drain on SS. You say you're self sufficient and all, and individualistic.... And when you've described your living conditions, they sound just great for someone who chose that way and built their own shit. But they sound pathetic for someone arguing for personal responsibility and privitization while collecting SS. It's just interesting, is all, I suppose.
At least half the people in this thread did. I dont think anyone is going to go back and see who they all are though.
Ah that's nothing I worked three full time jobs (120 hours a week) consecutively for over a year straight (but I got some days off and my feet hurt really bad...)
so you averaged 6.5 hours/day away from work for over a year? how did you not just drop from sleep deprivation?
1. My health is fine, and except for injuries received while in the military, any and all health care I or my family has received has been paid for by me and never by government or anyone else. 2. Can you substantiate your statement "But this should not be necessary."? Are you implying that life and living should require no effort? 3&4. What did I get for it? Initially I was paid about 6 times my weekly wage, I also was able to get the comapany to hire some temp employees for the duration of my work, and was able to get overtime work/pay for several full time employees who I felt capable of providing assistance without need to offer the overtime in accordance with the union agreement which made overtime equalization mandatory. In the end I was promoted, but after about 5 years of dealing with unions and union employees I gave up my management title and worked the remainder of my life at a lower base wage, but still was able to find ways to increase my pay based upon the companies needs and my abilities to negotiate with my employer. As for the social security, I paid into it, and being a contract in which government mandated rather than requiring my signature, I and all others who paid into it are entitled to receive from it exactly what the contract offered. Like any government mandated contract with the people, the selling point in achieving acceptance is that the benefits exceed the cost initially, and as the number of beneficiaries and cost grows, far exceeding the revenues collected, it eventually becomes impossible to fund the program without borrowing and/or raising taxes.
I know your mad and its quite understandable but you gotta put yourself in these peoples posistion! THEY ARE GETTING FUCKED OVER BY THIS OBAMACARE... ITS GOING TO MAKE THINGS VERY HARD FOR ALOT OF PEOPLE!! OBAMACARE NEEDS TO BE STOPPED BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!!
Dammit! We need a little "soap box" smilie so Individual can stand on it. Do you think your the only person who works to make a way. Last company I worked for I worked 50+ hours a week for over two years and only missed one day because of gnarly food poisoning. We finally got tired of that type of shit so we started our own business. Money is good enough and now I work on average 120+ hours a week. But they are MY hours at MY home doing what I want.
Not looking for a soap box, just responding to RooShacks post, and no, I don't think I'm the only person who works to make a way, I only wish more would put as much into doing the same as they do complaining about those who have needing to "give back" something, when they took nothing in the first place. I still put in many more hours than 40, and closer to 80 a week with no pay at all, but like you they are MY hours, doing something I enjoy, and helping others who need help. People will and do help other people, without government mandating it. But all this is just getting further off topic, and my post was only intended as a response to a comment about me by RooShack in the first place.
Considering your purported age, and normal sleep/eating/bathing time requirements, and the amount of time you spend on here...... I don't think you "work" close to 80 hours a week.
It's because of the work I do that I'm able to spend time here. My work comes from all over the world via email, and while I'm waiting for programs to run to completion I have time to check emails and make posts, which is why I prefer to keep posts and responses as short as possible. Currently it's nearly 3:30 AM here and my running process will take over an hour to complete, so I'm off to bed and will return in the morning to check emails and see what work I have to do, as well as respond to any posts from here. I don't punch a time clock but usually begin around 9 AM and work until well past midnight, with breaks as required to take care of other things.
....so you screw around on the computer all day That's a job if you make money. I'm not sure that it comes close if you don't.
Look at it as charity. Or maybe you would rather call it slavery since I'm not being paid? It's very similar to the work I used to be paid to do. But what does any of this have to do with the topic? I thought this thread was supposed to be for displaying animosity and hatred upon Papa John, but I guess you have enough of those feelings stored up to direct towards any and all who will not assimilate with your feelings and allow their feelings to run wild.
Why would I have? I was in the governments employ, and only received surgery for injuries resulting from where I was placed. But that has nothing to do with Obamacare. Are you suggesting that our military should not receive medical care when injured as a result of being sent into a war zone?
The military is not only VERY socialist, but ALSO the imposed kind of socialism, whereby the people at large often don't agree with wars, but still must pay for them. So no, you should not have been compensated, you never should have been there, if you where drafted my condolences, but you took the money of the people to get hurt, and then to get better, when there was no reason to be in either situation, and it was all funded with foricibly extracted taxes, which you think to be immoral -- or is it only wrong when it's buying food, instead of hand grenades and agent orange?
