RooR makes valid points re: military and socialism. When I call the military socialist I usually get something like the RCA dog in response.

However... there might be a deeper point here. The military is proscribed in the constitution. You know, that document people like to point to frequently, left and right. It's just that somehow it got all twisted from it's original intent.

Just like so many other things people decry these days.

Interstate commerce now equals govt interference in business.
Gun ownership by militias = govt taking away our guns.
Common good = socialist govt programs.

Actually, I enlisted, but if you read our (your's too if you're an American citizen) Constitution, you might realize that the military is a legitimate function of the Federal government, and both those who were drafted and those who enlisted were/are entitled to have injuries sustained while serving under the orders of our government, Johnson a Democrat in my case, cared for.

I thought this thread was supposed to be about Obama care.

    How about just human compassion??

Or do you like seeing people sick??

I'm delusional I'm sure of it but I would like to see earth evolve to like a Star Trek setting.... where earth is just earth. And we are all one taking care of each other no countries saying we are better b/c xyz.....

    But just to be one.

Nobody is hungry, nobody is homeless, nobody has to worry about getting sick.

But it will never happen when ppl like individual here who thinks healthcare should only be for those who can pay for it, despite any other factors.

In fact I just had a day surgery today came home about 30 mins ago..... was knocked out, and had stuff done. I think the procedure in the states would cost appox according to a quick google was

with insuance - depending on coverage $0-$1500

No insurance - looking between $2000-$4000

I paid $0 thank god b/c I have medicare where I live, and I know in Canada I would have most likely paid the same.

This is the 2nd time something like this was done as dr's are still looking.

I tell you what I thank fuck ( to god if there even is one ) that I live where I do and not in the states. B/c I know if I was there I wouldn't be able to afford it and I would have to live in pain. Pretty fucked if ya ask me.

That sounds a little racist. Should we hate Italians or just rich Italians, and is he Italian? To the best of my knowledge, he was born American.

Are you saying humans lack compassion?

    That's a rather stupid question.

    Yes I am.

B/c essentially ppl do not want to bring in healthcare b/c right now the beginning foundation to build it will cost a lot.

So money is more important to you then the future of the people in your country.

So yes some humans lack compassion for the almighty $$$

Maybe you watch too much TV.

There are limits to what even government can provide, and we all would probably be much better off if government became less involved in our lives. People make up society, and societies are best improved when people interact directly with one abother, and not divided one against the other as has been the case of government involvement.

Depends on the area you live in. you would easily be able to save up enough if you put away all the money you are saving on cheaper taxes where I am now. On the other hand I would still be paying doctors from when I broke my leg if I wasnt insured when I was in nj. Call me crazy but we live in a democracy, we should be able to vote on something so important. Not have it shoved down our throats by the liberals and people down under.

Sad thing is I don't watch TV.

I just question why anybody would let ppl suffer, which by trying denying this you are doing.

Not everybody gets a fair shake at life, and to deny young, elderly, veterans etc...... why??

Ok so if it's "not shoved down you throat" I ask you this

How would you suggest to deal with the problem??

Seriously if the gov't/liberals don't try and bring something in like this, what would you suggest so everyone can get some type of healthcare when they need it.

And I'm not shoving anything down your throat..... just giving my opinion on the forum.

what about a poor little orphan girl with cancer, isn't it common sense to have a system in place that doesn't just let her die? It should not be any sort of states rights argument, the health of our less fortunate citizens (and illegals) should not be in the hands of our brain dead populace. Just like if you go to Cuba and need any sort of medical attention they will treat you no questions asked. funny isn't it

edit: US already spent about 3.7 trillion on the War on sand nigg... errmm Terrorism .. so why not spend a fraction of that on helping people for a change.

Glad you asked because I was about to answer why I dont like obama care anyway.
up until I was 26 I had no way to afford health care and no access to it from work. I worked 39 hours a week most weeks. I alwaus thought they really have to change the system. (as of now obamacare wont affect me much maybe my taxes and pizza will cost me a liitle more) the problem is the change is a bad bandaid not a solution. Im thinking of when I was at my job 12 years ago...the problem was I couldnt afford health care, thier solution was...make me buy it? Now technically I could afford it I would be over the "not free health care" but I would have to walk 3 miles each way to work, maybe I would get a cheap bike. Couldnt afford any tv, internet, have to live on ramen noodles...i guess I could work less hours so I fall into the subsidized range. Then I could be on welfare and be a bigger drain on society.. The solution is to make health care cheaper. Ten dollars for an asperin 750 for an ambulance ride. 150 for crutches? Fix that first... My battery is dying more later.

Health care providers are huge businesses owned by people who are only interested in making more money . As much as I love it, capitalism is evil which is why getting government involved is really the only hope for a fair system in which there are not people whose job it is to figure out a loop hole which allows the insurance company to deny paying treatment costs for your fatal illness.
