Passenger plane crashes near Ukraine border, possibly shot down, 295 on board

Get real! I said that I was only making up examples. I didn't say what I thought happened because I don't know what happened. I know a plane was shot down. That's it. And you must be out of your mind if you think everything the media tells you is true.

Easy example that I just happened to be discussing with someone today....google 1967 USS Liberty. If that ship would have been sunk, there is a very good possibility that we could have been drawn into a war. I don't walk around paranoid at all but I don't blindly accept what I'm told either.

Not making assumptions and jumping to conclusions is something that smart, logical people do. Try it.

 

counter measures on a civilian aircraft will only prolong the inevitable. I seriously doubt there will be another civilian plane shot down in this manner, not for a while anyway.
even so.. all methods of transportation are at risk of terrorism or attack..

that's just panic right now. civilian aircraft do not have systems to detect missile platforms targeting them in the first place. pilot's field of vision out of the cockpit is limited and even if the pilot saw the missile being fired at the plane there's just no time to do any successful counterattacking.

a lot easier counter-measure is to just avoid flying over airspace where war is taking place. i'd rather pay triple the ticket price or even more than lose my life.

which really means it's up to the airlines to get their priorities straight.

True.....anything can be dangerous....even just sitting at home... a tree can fall down on you.....etc......but I have always had a fear of airplanes....but travelled alot by them at one time. I felt I was playing Russian roulet....no pun intended.....each time.....and now.....I am not that gamble minded........
Funny, I do not fear boats or ships at all......and with most other ways of travel, you can get some control over it....like..."Stop, and let me out of this car..."......etc....but with a plane......it is only a wing and a prayer......
