Well, a couple stupid reasons. It's very interesting how society pressures us into believing that bigger is better when that's not the case. As a growing teenager, I can tell you that I def. had social pressure about my looks, and penis in general. 1. My size obviously 2. I have this stupid mole that I've had since birth and it just makes it look worse lol....
Have I seen you in a film? I find it helps to think of it this way, you wouldn't kick a girl out of bed if she had a mole, and humans tend to be alike on a fairly fundamental level, so it's unlikely girls you like would either

Mines about 2" soft, 6" hard, and about 4"thick. BTW, all of those people self-concious about size: It means nothing really. Sure, some girls like to feel full, but most want to have great sex where both get off, and it takes a decent amount of time. Unless your dick looks like someone glued an acorn to a torso when it's hard, you shouldn't have any problem.
I actually have had mine measured by more than one woman, not mid-intercourse though. Soft it's any where from 4 to 6 inches depending on the temperature.
