oh an for the record it would cost 40 bucks in gas an ya could be in atlanta in 7 hours,,if ya was wantin an could afford to evacuate to a motel theres 10's of thousands of rooms there..
But there is traffic everywhere, and all the gas stations have been closed since yesterday, and for the past few days regular gas has been about $2.40 a gallon due to the hurricane.
hell for that matter theres places like the yonder farm ,,tis only 4 hours from pensacola an they will take anyone in... i know i know,, some folks dont have 20 bucks for gas.. blah blah blah..
Really there is no point arguing about this, I'm pretty sure everyone who was going to leave has already left.
cost us 120 bucks in gas to go 500 miles to the gathering and back,,, i find it hard to believe gas prices or traffic would be a reason not to evacuate...
oh i agree,, an i wasnt tryin to argue.. just was stating my opinion.. have fun the next 12 hours,,,see ya in hell my friend...
some people probably REALLY dont have the money for gas. and as far as i have ever heard there isnt some big ass Red Cross van or bus going around asking if people need to leave and offering free rides. not that i would know that personally, cuz i dont live waaaaay back there, but one would think it would be on the news and such. i feel Soulless will be just fine. and for the hotel/motel thing, well there is probably more than 10,000 but how many people evacuted? more than likely more than there is room for.
duhhh huh??? http://www.sccgov.org/channel/0,4770,chid%3D58899%26sid%3D10710,00.html "If you must have assistance for special transportation call the American Red Cross or your local officials." shoots yer wad into a kleenex dont it there dust bucket...
well duh on me is right! as i had said though, I wouldnt really know since i dont live there. so backatcha hippie. i already claimed i could be wrong, but thanks for the info just the same.
ok im done here for folks start thinkin im more of a asshole than i am again.. peace love an freaky sex.....
Just because they say ti is available doesn't mean it is so readily so. And as far as the shelters, they reach capacity very quickly, and there is always a shortage.
I think some of you are really overreacting. Really, most of the worst pics you see of devastation, those are right on the coast, or the various barrier islands.
at least they get warnings for hurricanes, here we get no warning, the ground just starts rockin' and rollin'.
And I'm quite aware fo the size of the storm, it's been practically the sole topic of the news for the last couple days.
Also, can somebody please tell me what category the hurricane is right now? I haven't checked the news yet today. Last I checked it was almost a 4.
I don't think the flooding is going to be too bad, for Ivan they predicted huge swells and downtown would be underwater etc. but I don't think it even really flooded at all. Other areas further East probably will flood, but not more than a few miles inland. And I'm about 5-10 miles from Mobile bay.
