My roommate open carries around the neighborhood. We live in a real mellow, hippy area so I find it strange. I think he has an irrational fear of hobos.
Close combat is what is most likely in that most confrontations occur at 15 feet or less. While no carry permit is needed to carry here I am deadly bare handed at that range and much easier to defend in court later. It's not who has the biggest gun, but who has the drop. l have a number of harmless seeming things I can carry openly already in hand that can be deadly. Don't mess with the mellow old greybeard with the cane.
It's ok you're young yet. Deal antique weapons for 50 years or so and you'll see stranger things yet.
I don't know where you can get it. I googled cane swords. Try that and see if you can find something you like.
Gongshaman, would you be so kind as to explain that contraption? Is it a Goldberg design or something from Ripley's collection? I once had a .410 concealed in a cane.
lol, it's steampunk art. No actual function... looks kinda sinister though. I like to shoot cans with my 1851 navy colt replica
This is what I got for Christmas when I was 14 But this is what I prefer to shoot Neither one of those are guns I can carry. haha.
Yeah, just search for women and guns and you’ll invariably come up with dozens of pictures of the IDF :2thumbsup: Hotwater
I just choose to leave it at their place than to try and hide it. They are retired and home most of the time. Better safe than sorry, I don't want to be the reason a kid gets shot from my stolen firearm. Then its ninja turtle time! That's all fine and good, But a dead body cant lie or twist and tell bullshit. Id rather drop the piece of shit than to pay for him in prison the rest of his days. Or he will be 'mentally unfit' and be out in 8-12. If hes dead, hes not telling no lies and hes not coming back. Its not that I lack the skill, Its much easier with one shot, One kill with very little effort. I always will have the 'drop', Growing up I was always taught to never sit with you're back to a door, wall/corner and a view I can scan. So until im at a setting with true friends and family, Im 100% ready for anything and it something I 'cant' turn off, Second nature.
RubySoho6, whether you think you will carry or not, there are certain things you need to understand. When you decide to carry a firearm, you give up the right to lose your temper. When you decide to wield your firearm, you have decided in that moment to fire it. When you decide to draw your concealed weapon, you are to do so only if a life is at stake. When you discharge your firearm at a bad guy, do not shoot to maim. Shoot to kill. If your firearm [that you carry] has a safety on it, you will carry it locked and loaded with the safety on. That way, if you have to use it, you will simply disengage the safety and shoot the bad guy. In an emergency, you will not have time to charge a round into the chamber. You will barely have time to disengage the safety and aim. If you go before a jury, you will tell them [at the appropriate time in the trial] that you were in fear for your life. This is what you would have told law enforcement when they showed up at the scene of the crime. Be sure to read the laws on firearms and conceal & carry in your municipality and your state. Ignorance will be no excuse if you get this one wrong. If you decide to carry a firearm, do not drink or smoke it. That would be highly irresponsible. RubySoho6, if you cannot comply with the above and accept the responsibilities surrounding firearms, you have no business carrying a firearm. Remember, a firearm is an instrument that can kill. It is as safe as the operator using it. - JKHolman
I don't have to give up the right to lose my temper if I carry, That's plain bullshit! Just because I have a firearm don't mean im going to use it to settle disputes. I also carry with no round chambered, That's how accidents happen and the 'safety' feature don't always work. I had a double action sidearm that had no safety features what so ever. I have practiced around friends that if I need to have a hot round ready, I can do so very easy and with out people noticing, Less the fact they knew my intentions. By the time my carry gun can be pulled, Ill already have the safety off and a round entering the chamber. Its not about whos the 'quickest' draw, Its who can throw down and hit the target with out spraying the crowd. Being in that 'rush' gets innocent people killed. Some think that its a tool to fix all, I see it as a tool to save my family and as many other people I can. No reason to have it in sight otherwise, Unless behind closed doors. Too many people are under the assumption that just because a person has a carry permit and carry they are going to go show it off like a new bike to the neighborhood. I don't want anyone knowing I have my firearm, Its there for my piece of mind and 'just in case'. But also good points, Playing stupid with firearm laws is not going to help the situation, It will make it worse because you should have known before you got the permit, More so if you are carrying a firearm.
