My dad was 14, and in England. His situation wasn't the typical baby one.

While I am not a proponent of circumcision, even in a case where the head of the penis does not crown through the prepuce, I would caution on a fertility issue. If you are considering procreation, phimosis coupled with a long prepuce, and/ or a weak discharge could leave most of the semen under the foreskin. One alternative is to leave the penis in the vagina, after orgasm, until the semen has had a chance to flow into the introitus. Quick withdrawal could leave the fluid undeposited.

Don't be in a hurry to solve a problem that doesn't exist.

I'll say it again - as I have in post after post: take a long look at a nine month pregnant woman. Skin stretches! Man, does it stretch. A 'natural' man has a lot of extra skin. Daily stretching of the skin around the 'head' of the penis for a few months will lead to all the free movement of the prepuce up and down the shaft that you want. It will also lead to a great deal more masturbation, 'cause its hard to play with the thing and not get excited. So you improve on two counts. Kids normally start pulling on their cranks at 6 or 7 and by the time puberty and wanking come along they are ready. Phimosis results from his being afraid of pulling his skin/prepuce all the way back. Tell your boys, moms and dads. They need the advice about pulling. Some doctors tell moms to pull the skin all the way back when washing their newborns. That's the best solution. Probably religion is to blame for "hands off and don't talk about it" in most cases. *sigh*

Stretch or not, a long, tight foreskin may cover the glans during intercourse. This need not be a problem except during attempts to reproduce, as discussed previously.

Again, circumcision should be a medical necessity, not an act of convenience.

circumcision is, and always has been one of the most atrociously brutal things that humans do to each other-there are absolutely no logical or medical reasons for it- it belongs to the dark ages, where it should be left.

Stretching is a good remedy to try first before trying the more radical remedy of circumcision. A consult with a urologist is important to do now, however. If you cannot retract the foreskin at all, infections and unpleasant smegma buildup are possible underneath it.

A long series of articles in a recent New York magazine examined circumcision from all viewpoints and gave a balanced presentation of its pros and cons, including a piece by a man who was circumcised at age 37 after 20+ years of uncut lovemaking. He gave thoughtful pros and cons about both styles. Check it out.

circumcision is, of course a last resort fix, but even then it doesn't have to be a total removal of the foreskin, as a slight incision in the foreskin is sufficient to solve the problem, without having to resort to the removal of any skin whatsoever.

Depending on the severity of the problem a doctor may prefer to prescribe some steroid cream, which will soften the skin & allow for manual stretching over a longer term.

As with any medical advice, however, you should never take anything in here as Gospel - always consult your GP.

Wow, I'm 37 years old and i never knew that what has bothered me, and at times embarrassed me my whole life was called phimosis. Whenever I would hook up with someone I would always hate to have to explain that my foreskin doesn't retract and if it's pulled back it really hurts. Luckily I've had very understanding and great girls in my life but there were plenty of one night stands that I'd just as soon avoid telling. I actually have to wear a condom otherwise i can't just enter a woman. Unless she uses her mouth first to really lube it up and even then there's only been two girls in my life that i didn't use a condom with. I actually attribute it to my not having knocked anyone up which is a really good thing. When I was 21 I almost got circumcised but totally chickened out and missed the appointment. I'm glad I did because since then I've heard awful stories of adult circumcisions. The hardest thing for me was finding any information on it. Even my doctor didn't really know what it was or how to deal with it. Now I'll talk to her about the steroid cream. I've certainly learned to live with it but I hate the way it looks when I'm erect. I think its ugly so i'm once again determined to fix it. Thx for your post and the info.

I had phimosis (albeit really mild phimosis) skin wouldn't retract more than about a 1/3 over the glans during an erection-- and flaccid it would get stuck to the corona. After a month of using steroid cream my foreskin is so damn flexible that i can retract it all the way during an erection-- looks circumcised (i have to pull the skin to do this though it doesn't just snap back during a hard on, however there isn't any discomfort) i was getting worried after a few times of uncomfortable intercourse that i would need a circumcision. I'm 22 and did not want to go through six weeks of healing and not being able to ejaculate. I was skeptical at first about creams and stretching, but i am extremely happy with the results-- also never knew how good the frenulum felt! i would not want to lose that.

Dwoody - steroid cream, used every day for a month or so along with exercise of the foreskin until it goes easily over the glans when totally erect, should cure your problem. Also explore the different types of surgical remedies, including prepucoplasty, a minimally invasive surgical procedure which loosens the foreskin, and a loose cut circumcision, like I have, which retains almost all of the foreskin, but it sits just behind the glans at all times. I can pull my foreskin entirely over the glans when soft and two thirds over when erect, and i masturbate just like you do.
