Im not positive, but i do remember reading that they have jammed on stage before. which means they probably did a lot of jamming off stage as well

by the way...on account of there being more votes for GD than for phish, im going to RECAST my vote, to boulster phish some more and make it appear like they are winning this debate

    PHISH

    PHISH

    PHISHPHISH

    jerry can lick trey's balls

just kidding about that last one! but yea, both of them being in their prime, i bet trey could beat the crap out of jerry. jerry being all fat and sluggish and all. then again, trey kind of has girlish tendancies-a little limp wrist, gay lisp, propensity for crying on stage during final performances. but jerry was a lazy fuck who ate burgers nonstop while laying on the sofa. he wouldnt have the energy to stop even a girlish trey from bitch slapping him

in conclusion i dont know what the hell im saying

    PHISH

Um Jerry never jamed with trey. Jerry was the baddest guitar player that ever was. Trey is a big loop solo and stolen Santana and Paige riffs

Phish is my vote. The Dead are legendary, extremely influential and have a much bigger following. but when it comes down to it, the guys in Phish are just better musicians, and Trey is a better songwriter than Jerry.

timmyhoover-that is the funniest thing iv seen in atleast a few hours.

and to the previous poster...one thing i wouldnt defend about phish is songwriting ability. musicianship, yes, but but songwriting? i mean, have you ever found a moment in a box? tom marshall, who isnt even in the band, wrote most of the lyrics anyway

    haha

by the way i know that Tom Marshall wrote the lyrics, i was talking about the music. Some of it is just so powerful and moving, and i really haven't had that moving an experience with a Dead song, although i love both of them, i still think Phish is better.

I still don't ever understand comparing Phish and GD. Personally I like Phish more but Jerry was really a great musician. The Dead (today's band) are just ok, without Jerry. I've just never understood the comparisons coz Phish music is so different from GD music, to me. Yeah, I know the jamband thing, but still, it's apples and oranges.

I agree, but I like apples better than oranges. Apples would be Grateful Dead. Oranges would be Phish. I cant say who is "better" but GD has my vote for preference in eating.

Kermit, I love that thing in your signature!

QUOTE=crummyrummy]I will also go with The Dead.

and for those who care, DarkStarOrchestra, april 20 2005, at Norva, Norfolk Virginia. Always a good time.[/QUOTE]
Can not wait for this show. Also, Ratdog is coming around the same time to the Norva. Both should be excellent shows.

Yeah it really is tough to compare them. they're very different. a lot of people compare Trey to Jerry, while Trey is actually much more like Santana than Jerry. If apples are the Dead and Oranges are Phish, then i prefer the citricy taste of oranges!
