in the uk in the 70s and 80s ,ford produced the mk4 and mk5 cortina ,the engines were called pinto engines ,they also put them into the ford capri ,and later some of the ford mondeo also ,had the ford pinto engine in them
I really don't like that big wheel lowered look....but I'm old. We used to put extended rear leaf spring shackles and helper springs on just to avoid that look.
I used helper springs on my '63 Dart so the tires wouldn't rub. If I recall correctly you couldn't pass inspection with those shackles.
I got a ticket back in 58', or 59'for lowering my 46 plymouth too close to the ground, If I had gotten a flat, the car would have dragged on the ground!! ( I remembered that Plymouth of mine being a 1940---when I looked at a 40'---I was wrong--it was a 46',)
The 'fleetside' version of this was my first truck; same color, but mine had the 'deluxe' package; the grill and bumpers were chrome, and it had a big back window.
In PA, that's correct. It wouldn't pass... Guys got around it though, I never thought they were safe.
Some would say this is the best iteration of Ford's T-Bird. I have a friend that would love to have one...
