in my world that would be the only kind of "car" there would be roads for, well that and modified robotic agricultural, mining and logging equipment. most populated places you could walk to the nearest transit stop without having to live in a large city to be close enough to one to do so. i'd love to see those battery powered electric grounds maintainence vehicles be the only 'cars' on 'the road' and 'the road they were driven on to be only to the nearest place you could hop on a little train. i do like THOSE things, and wish that was the only thing on roads only wide enough for them to drive on. well that and electric two wheelers. and like modified 'lawn mowers'.
Did you know the Dodge brothers built transmissions for Olds Motor Vehicle Company and engines, frames, etc. for Ford's Model T and even complete cars? They had a ten percent interest in Ford and John Dodge became vice president of Ford.
I had part ownership in one like this. While I was out of town, the dipshits that were the other part owners---CUT THE TOP OFF OF IT TO TRY AND MAKE IT A CONVERTIBLE!!!!
One like this one was one of my 3 '37 Plymouths. I gave this one away when I moved from Coalinga,California to San Jose. Notice the round crank device when the guy shows the dashboard. It cranked the front window out--open.
Here's an unusual request, but I've gotta try. Does anyone have, or can find a way to take, a photo of the engine bay of a '49-'50'-51 Dodge (or Chrysler)? But more specifically, the hood latching mechanism? On my '50 Dodge Windsor, the hood cable pull broke, and there is absolutely, no earthly, human way to reach the latch holding the hood down. I have a few, but not very good, photos I've found by searching on the Internet of cars for sale. My final, last idea is to drill a 1/2" hole in the front of the hood, at just the right place, and with a drift or rod, blindly try to find the tab on the latch and hit it with a hammer to pop it and loosen it. ANY photos will be appreciated. (As will sympathy.) --- Patrick
Try going to the Allpar forums and asking...."Need some help. I own a 1950 Dodge Cornet that has 27K documented miles on her and my problem is the car is real difficult to get into reverse. I have the shop manual and can not find anything in the manual that provides information on how to adjust the linkage. Does anyone know of where I can..." Or the Antique Automobile Club of America forums....." "1950 Dodge Coronet (D34) Dashboard Removal, Has anyone accomplished this feat? I want to replace the dashboard wiring harness and would like to know if anyone removed the dash or used some other method. Ken"
